Well sorry!! Jeez make a huge fuss out of it.
 at your reason for editing 8-)

gets a bit frustrating though when in every second thread someone spells it incorrectly, they're then corrected, yet still people do it

excusable if it's something that happens once in a blue moon, but certainly not when it happens at least once every second thread

they may well know, but it doesn't make it any less frustrating.

Whilst we all seem to agree that currently Jaques & Rogers are the most likely to replace Langer & Haydos (when he retires). However, should either of Jaques & Rogers fail, i'd be interested to see who the selectors would turn to.

Currently, the only other long term opening options i can see in Aust. Domestic cricket would be Tim Paine & Ed Cowan. Whilst both haven't been setting the world alight, they have put in some mature performances, and made a decent amount of runs so far this season. Thoughts?

Paine certainly seems to be the next one in line after those two. He's young, played in the PM's XI side, and he can keep as well. By the time both of Jaques and Rogers have been tried and discarded though, someone else might well have arrived on the scene.

Paine has certainly stepped his game up a level this year, and it'll be interesting to see if he can continue to make consistent runs in the 2nd half of this season, and then follow it on come october again. One thing that we all haven't really considered though is that Paine is actually a WK as well. You get the feeling that if he decides to pursue his Keeping career, he'll find it a lot tougher to get into the national team than if he plays as a specialist opening batsmen

It'll be the other way around IMO. Haddin is the obvious successor to Gilchrist, but he's 7 or so years older than Paine, and there's no other clear candidate yet. Paine would be competing with the likes of Hartley and Ronchi post-Haddin, and if he's making big runs with the bat it'll certainly make up for any deficiencies he might have with the gloves. If he becomes a specialist opening bat he'll need to consistently average 50+ and compete with the likes of Jaques and Rogers to get a shot at the team.

Obviously it's pretty unlikely that Paine will open if he does play test cricket as a keeper, though.

The thing is then, if Paine wants to pursue a Wicket-Keeping career, he's as you said, unlikely to open the batting as well if he got the job at test cricket. With that in mind, you'd hope he starts to bat lower down the order (5/6/7) now that he's taken over Clingleffer as the 1st choice keeper in FC cricket for Tassy.

If Jaques or Rogers aren't successful the selectors will have no problem moving Hussey to opener which they have done already.

Do you hope that he does that, or do you hope that he challenges himself and stays near the top of the order?

I'd hope that where-ever he bats, he does well

EDIT: When you put it that way though, i would like to see him do well at the top of the order
