This thread reminds me of the time Bob Willis's eng team was in NZ in 1983 and were getting bashed by Geoff Howarth's side in the tests .

English media promptly put out lurid reports of nocturnal activities like entertaining girls at night being the reason for losing to lowly NZ .

This was promptly refuted by wags in Christchurch who doubted the eng team's ability to entertain anyone
