Younis Khan: Pakistan's bowling attack is best in the world

Dont see your point with that link? yes it was a comfortable win for England its not as if England chased the score in 20 overs?
What SKD said.

What I am trying to say is that you can have the best bowling attack in the world, yet fail, if you don't play good all round consistent cricket.

Australia and WI won lots of games not ONLY because they had a superior bowling attack, but also because they played good cricket from all fronts and played with heart. Both those teams were very professional with their approach and excelled in every department. And there's no point for Pakistan to have the best bowling attack in the world if they can't even consistently field well.

actually rana had just come back from injury and was in very bad form
if he was even 40% in form pakistan would have defended that 235

and i think he means test matches cos pakistan will likely play 4 specialist bowlers now in akhtar
asif
kaneria
rana/gul/shabbir

I never knew Rana was such a match winner in ODIs lately...

Well whatever the situation and form of game, my point still stands. A team cannot consistently take 20 wickets in a match with a 'best bowling attack in the world' alone.

Kaneria's hasn't been great on recent form tbh
I think Aussies will come back to the pack a bit, but its remains to be seen if Aussies will be #2...they very well might retain the mantle.

I rate England at full fitness ahead of them really - Pakistan are too inconsistent - a whole pack of Harmies. Hoggard, Flintoff, Harmison, Jones and Panesar will be the best attack around.

Asif and Gul are quite consistent aren't they? Akhtar is injured too often, but with everyone in action they can match England IMO.

I never found Gul to be incredibly consistent at all to be honest. He bowls some good spells but he bowls some trash ones as well where he just ends up short and wide. Kaneria is dreadfully inconsistent as well where Akhtar simply matches Jones in his injury-prone-ness (curse my laziness - I really should be able to think of a literally asthetic word for that) and Razzaq/Malik/Afridi/whoever they use as their fifth bowler is nothing compared to Flintoff. They probably have better depth than England with the likes of Nazir and Rana, but at full strength I'd rate England a bit higher.

His comeback from injury wasn't all impressive. If you're going by what you saw in England then you're right, he was all over the place. But he's been improving match by match and is finding the form he had prior to his injury.

Now all Pakistan needs to be a good team is:

a. 2 openers

b. a captain that doesnt forfeit when things go awry

c. a no. 6

d. a keeper that has rediscovered the art of catching

e. a spinner that has rediscovered the art of taking wickets

f. a reprieve for drug cheats; and

g. a third seamer that remembers he's bowling and not throwing a javelin

Achieve that and they'll do ok

If things go well with Akhtar & Asif, it will be a close between themselves & England for the best attack in the world. By the middle of 2007 we'll know for sure.
