Battle of the Legends

In the Ranking the Batsmen thread, lillian thompson proposed this concept and I found it quite interesting. As I have the next month off on vacation, I'd love to run this battle.
Of course, the poster who came up with the idea should have the first opportunity to implement it ... so lillian thompson, let me know if you'd like to take charge.
Any other battle whores (SS, AT) who would like to get involved can let me know as well.

This will be a battle of the legends of cricket - the most influential figures - the icons and heroes who served as inspiration for others - the figures who shaped cricket in a monumental way - those who will be remembered in the years to come. Personally don't know of any such examples, but coaches/commentators/board heads are acceptable.

Please provide suggestions and nominations. :)

Chaminda Vaas, 3rd greatest left armer has to be there IMO
Kumar Sangakkara - One of the top five keeper batsmen
Anjuna Ranatunga - You might not like him, but was a top captain one of the best all time
Romesh Kaluwitharana - Changed the face of One Day Cricket and the role of keepers, before Gilly even made his debut
C Bannerman - First guy to score a Test hundred

Let's keep it to 96 now. SS, can I get access to your randomizer? Also, how do I apply it for the first round of 3?

EDIT: Still awaiting nominations. Let me know who should NOT be in the list as well.

Not really, but can just put in 96, use the first 32 groups and then put the rest in the order they came out. Thats what i did for the first round for Battle of the Spinners

so for example the 65th player sorted goes in group one, 66th group two etc

Also why Lance Carins?

I would replace him with his son or Joe Solman, the guy that had the run out which resulted in the first ever tie.
