England were on top for the first 4 days of the Adelaide test in my eyes, they just ****ed it up on the 5th day.
Not really. It was even in the first four days...the first innings scores were virtually identical. That has happened lots. England were outclassed. Even Bangladesh kept up with Australia for a couple days. You were outclassed, just like everyone else, because no one is able to match them for 90 overs a day, five days in a row.

Precisely. Showing signs of brilliance doesn't always mean that you weren't outclassed. The reality is that whenever the match was on the stake, Australia rose and England fell. That's the key in test cricket.
