Fair enough, but its a long series, so if they rotate i reckon they should give Hopes a go some time.

Rumors is Vaughan would be captain of England's ODI team, i hope its true. England's squad will be picked soon, i reckon they will go for 15, so at this stage i'll go:

1. Vaughan - Captain
2. Read
3. Strauss
4. Bell
5. KP
6. Freddie
7. Collingwood
8. Joyce
9. Dalrymple
10. Bopara - hey its better than Clarke
11. Anderson
12. Lewis
13. Harmison
14. Mahmood
15. Panesar/Yardy - depends on whether see the selectors see Panesar fit to be in the ODI set-up as yet

Yardy with the bat failed and he doesn't turn it,steve davies as the keeper batsmen.
Yeh i like panesar positive move,he is a wikcet taker.
No use playing hopes brett lee, hoggy even mitch johnson can bat at 8.
Voges at 7 plays like hussey anyway, his left armers will be useful if they go for symmo.
Not keen as white as a bowler in one dayers he can take wkts but goes for 5 and half 6 in domestic one dayers, where as voges goes for 4.5 5 an over.

What, when England follow up their 3-2 heroic Ashes retention by whitewashing the Aussies and sending them home before the final?
That seems unlikely :(

Slightly ignorant about Aussie cricket here, but wasn't Cam White an off-spinner earlier? He's being spoken of as a batsman in here.

Started off as a leg spinning all rounder, but he can't bowl, so he turned himself into a batsmen who can bowl a bit. Been in pretty good form with the bat, so he would be a option in the middle order.

Leg-spinner, and yes, sort of. He's always been handy with the bat, but he was mostly talked about as a spinner earlier in his career, but his batting has improved at a greater rate and he doesn't normally bowl himself all that much as captain of Victoria. He's always had the ability to hit a massive ball, but he came into his own as a batsman for Somerset over the off-season, and he's carried that form over into the Australian domestic season so far. One of the top one day runscorers for the year.

If he makes his way into the international setup on a permanant basis it'll definitely be as an all-rounder, not a specialist leggie.

Thanks guys. Also, what happened to Nathan Hauritz and who are the top spin prospects after Cullen and Bailey?

Hauritz moved from QLD to NSW over the off season to get some more gametime. He has been a regular in the NSW OD side, bowled ok but hasn't set the world on fire. Played one FC game as bowling all rounder at No. 7, NSW worse then Australia in their hunt for a bowling all rounder at number 7.

I'm not sure Hauritz could really have been expected to bowl much better than he has so far in the one dayers for NSW. 12 wickets @ 22 in 7 games, with an economy rate just over 4. If they pick an offspinner for the WC it'll still be Cullen, though.

Well unless Cullen doesn't improve & Hauritz continues that would be a bad move though. But overall as you would know as well, Australia are unlikely to take a second spinner to the WC.

Beware Of Vettori

Vettori is developing as a great figure in NZ Team. Aussies and English should keep a watch on him!

Mcgrath to retire after the 5th test,no world cup then.
Stu clark for mcgrath then.
I think hauritz and white will be reserves for the world cup, thats unless watson is unfit which is a strong possibilty.
Will be interested who gets chosen in the vb squad now.
They will take only 1 spinner to the world cup, they will rely on part timers clarke, symmo and voges.

NZ's chances of beating Australia in the VB Series will improve dramatically if McGrath isnt there. I can't count the number of times now that McGrath has destroyed the NZ team when they've been in a position to win.

We will go into the world cup in a similar position as the last world cup,no mark or steve waugh.Symmo was a mirage of what he is now.Gillespie pulled out of the world cup as did warney.Ricky ponting was an apprentice captain then.
We still have the talent whether it will happen is another thing.
Will be excited to who england picks' will be a virtual A side, can you pick anderson and sajid in their form.

True, but Brett Lee has ripped through our top order on a number of incredibly painful occasions too.

You'll Never Walk Alone
Looks like McGrath won`t be playing in the World Cup. Clark a straight swap, or Jonners a go?

Gilchrist
Clarke
Ponting
Hussey
Watson
Symonds
Haddin
Hogg
Lee
Bracken
Clark

for mine. Johnson over Clark doesn`t worry me.
