Black armbands - what a joke !

There's a huge difference between an incorrect LBW decision and a dubious accusation of ball tampering or chucking. The former involves a spontaneous decision in which a judgment must be made in virtually a second. The latter requires substantial evidence, allows considerable time for observation and has a huge impact on a cricketer's career and reputation. If on-field umpires are too scared to call chuckers and ball-tamperers now, that's fine. The match referee, third umpire or another off-the-field committee should do it.
and if it's proven to have had an influence on the outcome of the game how is that fixed? It's difficult to rectify the situation after the game...the only thing that can be fixed is the player's action.

We've had LBW's, run outs, catches, fours and no balls referred to a man sitting at a desk, and now the umpire has had his bollocks sent upstairs too...
I hope they weren't tampered with...this whole rigmarole could kick off again.

Sort of minimalising and diluting the whole armband thing IMO. They should only be used in mourning the death of a close one, but the fact that they are worn for every other thing that happens these days (taking about other sports as well here) it really kills the whole thing.

A sad day for my club tomorrow, we lost one of our under14 players. So we will don black armbands. RIP
