No akhtar, and now no afridi????

anyone noticed the crowds in pakisan w indies matches, its a joke!!!!!!!!
not playing afridi is beyond me, he brings the crowds in, sure he is lacking form, but what better way to bring a batsmen back into form then playing him on flat tracks of paksitan????

i have no doubt that afridi would have made some noise on the last 2 pitches pakistan has played on, yet pcb will porbably bring him back on some foreign pitch which is not going to help his form one bit.

shoaib akhtars lost is one of the biggest in pakistan cricket history, he was by far the most entertaining bowler in teh world, and afridi when he is on is the most entertaining batsmen in the world

and paksitan crowds, maybe for thier lack of understanding of the game, look for entertainment more then substance and good test cricket, pcb just finds ways to loose crowds, im sure this has to do with politics.

Thats the point isn't it though? If you play him on flat tracks and he makes runs - does it really tell you about what he's going to do outside of that?

well atleast let him do what he can lol and maybe that will translate into success outside, he has played some good innings in australia mostly based on good form he developed playing in pakistan/india

Surely the crowds flock to see Dave Mohammed?

Well you can't pick a guy just because he draws in the crowds, sure if it was a Twenty20 or an ODI then maybe you could have a slight justification in picking him but by playing Shahid Afridi on these flat decks what will that prove to anyone? Nothing other than the fact he can smash attacks around on roads but can't do anything on decent bowling wickets.

Afridi should not get his place back in the Test side IMO. He's been given plenty of chances and has failed to show any consistency. He can (somewhat) get away with that in ODI's, but not in Tests. Though I'm not a huge fan of Razzaq either, I would still prefer him over Afridi. At least Razzaq can score past the single digits more consistently than Afridi. As far as bowling, Razzaq = Afridi IMO.

Definately, especially seeing as Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Hafeez can both turn the arm over for some tweakers it makes Shahid Afridi obsolete really.

No kidding. The stadiums have been pretty full from what I've seen, espescially at Lahore, where Lara got a standing ovation just for his 50.
