I was wondering what would Lara's average be if he had more notouts. Currently Lara only has 6 notouts and averages over 53 in tests. Tendulaker has 22 notouts and he averages 55. Notouts make a huge difference.

Even Ricky pointing has 24 not outs :-O . no wonder his average is 58. and Rahul Dravid has 22 notouts :-O . Lara average could have been so higher if he had over 20 notouts

The thing about not outs and top order players is that they're generally deserved. The batsman was good enough (or lucky enough) to end up unbeaten and therefore not dismissed. A batting average rightfully rewards such a performance.

Lara doesn't have many not outs because he hasn't really had support and has played for a losing team. He hasn't had many opportunities to play those unbeaten innings.

Lara averages around 4 runs per innings more than SRT when you take out all of there Nos.
That means little in the comparison of the two players.
