I guess this is kind of related. Zimbabwean player Colin de Grandhomme is currently playing for Howick/Pakuranga in the Auckland premier division. The word is that he's looking to gain residency here.
Can't blame him in the slightest.

Yeah, subcontinental teams have never played a good match away from home.
Should be a 5-0 Zim sweep against those home pitch bullies. 8-)
Huh? They did get owned last time they played in ZIm, didn't they?

Yeah 3-2 is hardly owned. I'd say it was an aberration really, for a team that has shown quite a bit of improvement. They've handled Zimbabwe almost as comfortably as a no-minnow in this series and I'd like to think they could potentially pull off an upset in the World Cup.

Good news for NZ then. de Grandhomme was the most promising young batsman Zim had. His father effectively bribed the ZCU not to select him after the rebellion.
He's at least as good as Sean Williams, a potential top-class batsman.

The first of two first-class games between a genuine Bangladesh A team and Zimbabwe A (effectively the full side minus a couple of players) started today. Bangladesh A currently 69 for two having bowled Zimbabwe A out for 146. Sean Williams made another half-century and Enamul Haque jnr continued to dominate Zimbabweans by taking 5 for 21.

Bangladesh A going pretty well here, Jahurul Islam backed up his credentials as an opener with 59. Ayub is another to watch out for - he could play in the Twenty20 World Cup next year. Scores above are slightly incorrect, according to the Dhaka Daily Star. Javed finished unbeaten on 133 from 228 balls, with 21 fours. More wickets for Shahzada too, who has been impressing at domestic level and is now perhaps behind Syed Rasel in the Test stakes.
