This is now a 5-day Poll to select the # 6 for the 1986-2006 World Test XI (Batsman or All-rounder and you may consider that they could bat at # 7 behind Gilchrist if you want).

First, the 3 runner-ups from the # 5 Batsman Poll

Rahul Dravid: 104 tests, 9048 runs @ 58.75 (23/46)
Viv Richards: 44 tests, 2651 runs @ 43.45 (5/20)
Steve Waugh: 167 tests, 10909 runs @ 51.45 (32/50)

Plus the following All-rounder nominees:

Chris Cairns: 62 tests 3320 runs @ 33.53; 5 centuries; 218 wkts @ 29.40
Kapil Dev: 58 tests; 2239 runs @ 32.44; 5 centuries; 154 wkts @ 31.74
Andy Flintoff: 62 tests; 3127 runs @ 32.91; 5 centuries; 186 wkts @ 31.32
Richard Hadlee: 26 tests; 925 runs @ 34.25; 1 century; 132 wkts @ 21.73
Jaques Kallis: 102 tests; 8033 runs @ 55.78; 24 centuries; 200 wkts @ 31.71
Imran Khan: 34 tests; 1715 runs @ 50.44; 4 centuries; 113 wkts @ 23.63
Saun Pollock: 102 tests; 3515 runs @ 31.95; 2 centuries; 395 wkts @ 23.42

* Allrounder criteria: 1986-2006 batting ave > 30 and bowling ave < 35

Btw, the 1986-2006 World XI so far:

1. Matthew Hayden: 84 tests, 7326 runs @ 53.08 (26/26)
2. Saeed Anwar: 55 tests, 4052 runs @ 45.52 (11/25)

IMO it has to be Imran or Hadlee. I went for Paddles for patriotic reasons and the fact I think that the batting in this team is already strong enough.

steve waugh - team of the last two decades without him is a mockery, and he can bowl a bit. protest vote really given imran's lead...

LOL at pollock being included here - definitely a bowling allrounder for 8, or at most 7, not 6.

It just has to be Jacques Kallis, imo, but apparently I'm the only one who agrees.
not really. i can see two votes against his name. you are not alone!

I went for imran. with ambrose, mcgrath, imran, warne and murali this bowling line up will give any all-time XI a run for its money. you can substitute one great name with another. but the quality of this bowling attack is as good as any in the history of the game. if someone can present a better bunch of bowlers from the same era i would be surprised.

the batting looks formidable too. only teams from other eras can better this bunch. for example, the batting line up of 1919 - 1939 era (between world wars) would be hobbs, sutcliffe, bradman, headley, hammond, ames (wk) and gregory. there cant be a better line up certainly!!

but before we congratualte ourselves on a job well done, lets us wait and see if imran actually wins this poll and if murali is the fifth bowling option!

I though Kapil was just plodding along after 1984 - 85. but it is quite nice to see the stats from the second half of his career matching flintoff's first. now freddy will have to take a lot of fivefers if he wishes to be bracketed along with stalwarts like imran, botham, kapil and, even, cairns (I consider hadlee to be one of the greatest bowlers of all time. but he was, imo, not an all-rounder) before he finishes. these three have in excess of 20. flintoff has only two. of course, bringing his bowling average to this side of 30 should be his first priority.

If you take out Bradman, I'd take this one over that one.

I think Dravid and Kallis are the best but they will come at 3 and 4.
