Best Team Possible With....

....certain criteria

I was thinking to day about the England team that played a Test match a number of years ago with 11 players that had scored a FC century.

Then I was thinking about the best team possible for countries with 10 players with BOTH
- a FC century
and
- min 50 FC wickets

and a keeper with a FC score of 200 or more.

FC 100 AND min 50 FC wickets

South Africa
1. Hall
2. Zander de Bruyn
3. Kallis
4. Dale Benkenstein
5. Kemp
6. Jacobs
7. Ontong
8. Albie Morkel
9. Pollock
10. Johan van der Wath
11. Boje

Unlucky to miss out- Petersen, Van Wyk, Klusener

England
1. Trescothick
2. Butcher
3. Vaughan
4. McGrath
5. Pietersen
6. Collingwood
7. Flintoff
8. Foster
9. Cork
10. Giles
11. Gough

What do other countries look like?

What would a World XI look like if they all had to have a Test 100 AND 50 Test wickets, and a keeper with a Test double century? It would be a tough team to pick!

well i guess you'd have
Jayasuriya
Astle
Kallis
Gilchrist
Flintoff
Klusener
Pollock
Razzaq
Vettori
Streak
Gillespie

Reserves:
Franklin
Rafique

Batting struggling, Gayle will be available when he gets 1 more wicket

Only has 36 FC wickets. :p

As for a World XI with Test 100s and 50 Test wickets, I'll give it a shot (made annoying by Shahid Afridi's 47 Test wickets, and Chris Gayle's 49!)

1. Jayasuriya
2. Gilchrist+
3. Kallis
4. Tendulkar
5. Flintoff
6. Razzaq
7. Vettori
8. Rafique
9. Pollock*
10. Franklin
11. Gillespie

EDIT: Way to steal my thunder (and do it better than me), Davo. :p

IIRC there's hardly anyone got a double whilst keeping in the same match.

FC 100 AND Minimum 50 FC Wickets

Simon Katich
+Adam Gilchrist
Michael Bevan
Brad Hodge
Stuart Law
Darren Lehmann
Shane Watson
Andrew Symonds
Shane Warne
Andy Bichel
Jason Gillespie

12th man - Greg Blewett

I think you can thank county cricket for a few of those blokes getting 50 first class wickets!

How about:

Best team possible with no Test centuries and no Test five-fors.
That's going to be difficult.

Stuart Law and Andrew Symonds would both get gigs on first class records. Watson on faith maybe. It will be tough with current players.

Sorry to disappoint you but Tendulkar has only 37 test wickets.

You could replace him with Nathan Astle though or Ajit Agarkar :)

Zimbabwe isn't too difficult because of the strength of the Logan Cup, though it would be a hell of a lot easier if Chigubura had five, Dabengwa seven and Matsikenyeri two more wickets, and I would have put them in because they are all currently available for Zim and I didn't want to use too many rebels.

Trevor Gripper

Guy Whittall
Gavin Rennie
Sean Ervine
Andy Blignaut
Gavin Ewing
Heath Streak

Here is an all time XI(12 actuall) with no century makers and no one with a fivefer

IND Chauhan, Chetan
ENG Brearley, John(Captain)
AUS Laird, Bruce
AUS Fairfax, Alan
PAK Asim Kamal
ENG McGrath, Anthony
AUS Veivers, Tom
AUS Oldfield, Bert (Keeper)
NZL Hadlee, Dayle
ENG Hendrick, Mike
WIN Benjamin, Winston
AUS Clark, Wayne

Not a bad side really with one of the greatest keepers of all time and one of the best captains besides one of India's most successful ever opening batsmen.

Owais Shah ought to replace Anthony McGrath.

How about a best possible one day team of players who haven't played in a world cup and most likely wont play the 2007 world cup.

Criteria: Should have played at least 10 one dayers.
