County Game in Crisis in Overseas Players Dispute

What are your views on the mass sackings of English players in favour of expensive overseas pros?

The same thing is happening in NZ, the NZ domestic & international season is in jeopardy at the moment because all the players are striking of money disputes.

Good for the game in my opinion.
marc71178 - President and founding member of AAAS - we don't only appreciate when he does well, but also when he's not quite so good!

Anyone want to join the Society?

Beware the evils of Kit-Kats - they're immoral apparently.

    Agreed with Marc... (!)

There is too much deadwood in the English county game IMO, if the cuts are this lot (which it should be rather than youth teams) it will be good on two fronts as it might help reduce the old boys' club image.

I hope. But if it goes the other way then don't hesitate to throw it out.

The other way meaning if young players get marginalised for the old guard.

it will be good for the game

    eg, which is more likeley

    1) Lets go and watch Hayden and McGrath take on Lehmann and Saqulain

    2) Lets go and watch adrian dale and solanki take on Anthony Mcgrath and Craven

its because cricket in england is still well below par that aussies that go over there can average 20 or 30 or even more higher than thieir normal average in Aus and bowlers average 5-10 less

Hopefully the Bears will become successful again - I quite like our pairing for this year.

    Who have the Bears got?

Marc, who have the Bears signed for 2003? Is Shaun Pollock over or not?

No Pollock, but we have Bond and Kumble - and that's good enough for me, as neither are overly expensive compared to the names, but are useful bowlers (which we need)

There may be a couple of other players being released and becoming available - be nice to compete for those as well.
