I was going to say the same thing. Seems the point has been missed on the first posters. Its to do with who had the biggest effect (as such) on the English game in England or who performed the best in England during that summer (as stated by Burkey).

Jayawardene I agree with, and surely it'll be Yousuf rather than Younis - two big hundreds, after all. Ramprakash will get it I think, the editors tend to be big supporters of county cricket hence past awards to county stalwarts like Adams and Bicknell. Leaves two from Bell, Cook, Collingwood and Panesar.

I don't pay any attention to the awards. I think it would be good to have cricket awards for the best players of the year outside of England as well. Maybe an annual CricketWeb Awards every year. :)

Well, they do have the ICC awards

I don't think Inzy deserves it, not having won it before is no excue, he's hardly set the world on fire this summer has he.
