***Official*** European Championships
Have started today. participating are Ireland, Scotland, The Netherlands, Denmark and Italy.
The matches between Ireland, Scotland and Ireland wil lbe full ODI's. Today's scores so far: Denmark vs Ireland: Ireland 209ao. Bit of a surprise, gives the Danes a chance of an upset and the favourites a banana skin right under their feet. The Netherlands vs. Italy: Netherlands 317/7 (van Bunge 123, Ten Doeschate 68) Should be an easy win for the Dutch. Tomorrow it's the first big clash with the Scotland vs. The Netherlands ODI at Ayr.

The Netherlands vs. Italy is at
http://www.cricketeurope4.net/LIVE/4/live.shtml Others also at the Cricketeurope website. I'm guessing the ODI's will be covered by CricInfo as well. |

Shame about Denmark. 35-4 now, with Langford-Smith taking three wickets. Klokker really shouldn't face the new ball, keep, and captain (and his dad should realise that). David Borchersen is crocked, too, so there's one of their main seam options taken out.
There's the second division, too, which takes place in Scotland at the same time. (which means no promotion until 2008). Eight teams take part in that tournament, including Norway, who opened well - France won the toss and batted on a minefield, got bowled out for 110, and Norway eased to victory after 44* from allrounder Mohammad Zeeshan Ali. Meanwhile, Israel's game with Jersey got cancelled due to protestors, and Greece beat Germany.

.If only the Dutch could get their bowling attack in order...they need one new ball bowler who's faster than medium and one more middle-over medium pacer. They've already got a good batting line-up. |

Eoin Morgan on 73* in the first of three ODIs in this tournament. Ireland are 164-7 though, with Andre Botha stumped off medium-pacer (IIRC) Craig Wright, and Niall O'Brien the only one to pass 20, while spinner Ross Lyons has 2-20, Paul Hoffmann once again stars with miserly medium pace (7-0-14-1), while John Blain has joined the ranks of useless ODI bowlers from the UK, 6-0-41-0.
After seeing the line-ups, Scotland >>>> Ireland. Their batting is a bit fragile tho. |
