This time I won't give any opinions, people seem to not like that.
I dare say most people don't really care. Personally, I found the discussion (including your opinions) more interesting than just seeing one word posts.

No, mate, you misunderstood me

I think you SHOULD do it. Because even though you gave opinions, and made it clear who you would vote for if you had the chance, what you said didn't really make anyone change their mind.

I don't have any problem with you giving opinions. If you want to please all the people, maybe you could just put forward a reason to vote for both innings, if you get me. But I didn't have a problem with your style.

Okie here is my suggestion.

Aus =25
Eng =20
WI = 20
Ind =15
Pak =15
Sri =10
SA =10
NZL =10
Zim =2
Ban =1

Total we have 128, I think this would make it far easier to select:) .

Why do SA get less than most, they were the 3rd nation to play Test Cricket

My personal opinion is that we take them until 128 have been contributed

SS, do you still wanna run this contest? Why don't you collate all the efforts so far onto a Word doc

Can someone make sure there are no duplicates? There might be a couple. I think it wouldnt serve much of a purpose getting to 128 since most of them would not have a realisitic chance of going anywhere. 64 is enough.

Well I noticed 1 - Anil being there twice. ;) Also I woule like to Nominate Kapil's 9/83 @ Ahmedabad and Srinath's 8/86 @ Kolkata in replacing One of Kumble's duplicate innings and his 8/141 Vs. australia.

Also Srinath's 6/21 against SA @ Ahmedabad (while SA were chasing only 170 and lost) should be there IMO.

I hope you will consider these 3 bowling figures.

Look again.

Im not sure 3-43 is worth including. People may rate it high but a 3fer should not make the list

41 Chaminda Vaas, 3/43 vs Australia, Asgiriya Stadium 1999

Good point, I didn't decide which to put in and which to leave out. I replaced them, and added Geraints' suggestions. Anything else? If thats ok, I'll post the first battle.

Any consideration for Srinath's 6/21 Vs. SA ?

Take out Hornibrook 1930.

http://www.cricinfo.com/db/ARCHIVE/1930S/1930/AUS_IN_ENG/AUS_ENG_T5_16-22AUG1930.html

Looking at the scorecard (rained out day five, Hornibrook's general bowling capabilities, etc.) it was the proverbial sticky. Quote from Wisden: "England had to play their second innings on a pitch so entirely suited to bowlers that in the circumstances they actually accomplished a good performance in scoring as many runs as they did on the last day." It also says something that despite the performance this was Hornibrook's last Test...at the ripe age of 31.

As it is a mild shame that there's no Malcolm Marshall on the list:

MD Marshall, 5/65 v Pakistan, Bridgetown, 1987-88 http://www.cricinfo.com/db/ARCHIVE/1980S/1987-88/PAK_IN_WI/PAK_WI_T3_22-27APR1988.html

Took out Hornibrook, added Srinath. I agree that its a shame that Marshall isn't on there...but I can't add him without taking another out which has equal or better stats.

Asif 5-25vs SL
Shoaib 4-47 vs IND

Two genuine matchwinning performances giving victory from nowhere with very impressive mode of dismissals awell.

EDIT: Shoaib 5 forsomething vs NZL 2004 and Wasin 6-67 vs Wi in 2000 are also worth looking

Suggestions as to which should be taken out then?
