What happens to a domestic schedule when a country hosts the world cup?

Does it continues as normal? or do they take a break somewhere in the middle?

South Africa shut down before Feb/March 2003. West Indies probably will in 2007, but they have such a short season anyway that they should manage to fit everything in. I'd imagine India and Pakistan would go unchanged through 2011, given that no one cares anyway.
