Which Country Will Be The Next Test Nation?

Let's face it, the only team really interested in Test cricket are australia and England. All the rest prefer ODI's, unless it's against the aforementioned two. Money talking, again.
So there may not be a new Test country. Ever. Dead on its legs, Test cricket.
If not, i guess the next step will be the creation of two tier Test cricket with a number of countries getting 2nd tier Test status at the same time.

That'd be why the West Indies are the only country apart from England who host more than three Tests to a series, then?Steulen said:

They have to fulfil residency requirements like Pietersen did - at least that's the rule now. Living in the UK doesn't count, apparently.Langeveldt said:

Weird, I still don't understand this place.. You aren't allowed to play in a country that you carry a passport for and are a citizen of??! But Scots aren't citizens of England. Nor do they have English passports. They're citizens of the United Kingdoms of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, which doesn't happen to be a side that plays Test cricket.Langeveldt said:

Welshmen aren't citizens of England either. Granted, the name of the organisation is the England and Wales Cricket Board, but if Scotsmen shouldn't be allowed to play for England, then would you be in favour of turfing Simon Jones out of our Test side?steds said:

Plz don't compare Minnows with Aussies ,they are almighy even with India & england they finish game in 3days....
China has good future in Game if ICC helps them improve..Those hard working yellow men will be good team...

How about a West Indies style "Scotland, Ireland and Wales" team?!
They'd probably give Bangladesh a good Test match or three, and beat England in a ODI series
As far as the SL thing goes, it's all a bit before my time, but a LARGE proportion of the population was mad for cricket waaaaaay before the 70s. Rather than playing "a few matches against touring teams", I believe SL was a regular stop for Eng and Aus teams for a pretty long time - that's at least one match against a Test squad every two years, and probably more.
My dad and my uncles tell of how, way back in the 60s, being in your school's first XI was a great honour indeed. It would have been the country's biggest sport much before SL gained Test status. In terms of cricket amongst the general populace, SL can't have been too far behind India - it's just that, with a much smaller population and no money to speak of, their top level wouldn't have been anywhere near as good.

The EU is already has far more political unity and is a far more cohesive group of nations than the West Indies. Rather than a group of nations with shared regional and cultural identity it is a group of nations governed (for good or bad) by a central parliament and has no bariers to travel and employment between the core members.
It would also bring a massive amount of investment in cricket in Europe as there are many that would love to see the EU compete as a single entity.
It would be a team drawn primarily from Ireland, Scotland, Netherlands, Denmark and maybe one or 2 Aussie Greeks and Italians.

They have much more wonga than most Test nations. I don't see how a lack of wonga can be used as an argument against excluding them. Kenya for Test status!
