Immigrant XI

Select an XI of players who played test cricket for a country they weren't born in. I expect there'll be a lot of South Africans who played for England, and Kiwis who played for Australia.

A few names to start with:

Tony Greig (RSA to England)
Kevin Pieterson (RSA to England)
Kepler Wessels (RSA to Australia)
Clarrie Grimmett (NZ to Australia)
Andrew Symonds (England to Australia)

I know there are a lot more out there, but that's all I can think of off the top of my head...

Oh, and I don't think we should count Wales to England since Wales doesn't appear to compete separately that I'm aware of. We'd end up with too many Jones in the team anyway! :)

Kumar Duleepsinhji
All played for England when India wasn't a test team i'm pretty sure.

Sinclair was an opener right? What were the Nawab and the Kumars specialties - 'scuse my ignorance.

So the team, thus far, looks

Mathew Sinclair Australia to NZ
-
Graeme Hick (Zim to Eng)
Kepler Wessels (RSA to Australia)
Kevin Pieterson (RSA to England)
Tony Greig (RSA to England)
-
-
Phil DeFreitas (Dominica to England)
Devon Malcom (Jamaica to England)
Clarrie Grimmett (NZ to Australia)
12th man/cheaty specialist fielder: Andrew Symonds (England to Australia)

To be advised:
Nawab of Pataudi
Kumar Ranjitsinhji
Kumar Duleepsinhji

Hasn't played Test cricket yet (thankfully...)

Yes but he has played ODI's :) and what do you mean thankfully in my opinion he's better than Jones

Kevin Pietersen
Tony Grieg
Geraint Jones
Clarrie Grimmet
Phil Defreitas
Devon Malcom

Not a bad XI....wouldn't do all that well, but it has potential.

I'm pretty sure Grimmet would be number 11 in any side he played in. I'd be tempted to slot Allan Lamb into that team somewhere.

Re: Matt Prior, I was thinking capped test cricketers only...

Well, that'd be thankfully for the Aussies, then. :p

(Prior's not a proper keeper, either. Dirty slogger who can keep on a par with Jones.)

There's Ted Dexter, too (born in Milan, 60 Tests for England)

Douglas Jardine was born in India IIRC. As for Grimmett, i'm pretty sure he could handle batting well, but this only going on stuff i've read.
