Harsh or Realistic Assessment of Zim

8 Zim players will be leaving after or during the WI series to go directly to the UK take posts as club cricketers.

Andy Pycroft, the team manager said that there could be problems and did not anticipate the players staying in the UK after the summer.

But Pycroft's comments were rubbished by a senior league official in the south of England. "To say the standard in club cricket is worse than club cricket is a bit rich. Many of the players concerned are not actually good enough to play for top-level clubs rather than being too good".

Wow, these are international cricketers this guy is talking about. Has Zim really sunk to such low standards?

Well Hampshire have a very good Zimbabwean cricketer in Shaun Ervine, he was really coming good at the back end of last seaon but i dont know if he wil be fit for the start this season. The other hampshire Zimbabwean Greg Lamb isnt quite so accomplished.

Peter Roebuck's been trying to get Elton Chigumbura a club in Devon for several months now, judging by the fact that this is the second time it's been on the site. No one seems interested - why would we be, when we can get Grade 1 Australians?

And both are more likely to play for England than Zimbabwe.

Exactly, I'd say another benifit of playing club cricket in England is that you actually get paid.. Not to mention pound sterling

Sean ervine has yet to commit to english residency,he will be offered a contract for west australia next season,so he could still go either way, especially if he marries geoff marshs'(who he dates) daughter.

The point is, Sean Ervine is exceptionally unlikely to ever play for Zimbabwe again.
And good thing, too.
As to the question... yes, Zimbabwe have several players who'd only make English club standard.
