Your Favorite and Most Dreaded Cricketing Sights ...

As ardent cricket lovers, we appreciate great displays of strokeplay, hostile spells of bowling and awe-inspiring catches in the field regardless of who is involved.

As cricketing fans, with loyalty towards a particular team perhaps, there are some sights that we truly enjoy and others that instill fear and anxiety in our minds.

So, what is your *favorite* and *most dreaded* sight in cricket today, or for the old-timers, in the cricket that you've witnessed?

fiery bowling by the west indian pacemen of old, viv richards murdering attacks, waqar ripping reverse-swinging yorkers, the english attack running through the aussies in the ashes, warne and murali generating ridiculous deliveries ... whatever you want

To start ...
favorite sights ... Yuvraj & Raina producing cracking off-side drives & Dhoni's innovative strokeplay in the slog overs
dreaded sights ... Asif moving the ball like crazy against Indian batsman & Sehwag trying to play short, incoming deliveries :(

I've made it obvious which team I support, but your choices don't have to indicate that; I love to watch Gilchrist and Symonds blast as well, just not against India :)

Definitely! The fact that I didn't get to see McGrath's 50 is one of my biggest cricketing regrets.

The fact McGrath's 50 was against New Zealand is one of my biggest cricketing regrets.

What's with the discrimination? Dogs fetch balls but pigeons can't take a blow?

Dogs still stay alive, in good health, and do it just for fun. I have no idea when it happened (late-80's or early-90's) but I saw a clip of that very long ago, in the early 90's. The other incident was in a Super Six match between India and Australia, when Ajay Jadeja lofted a Steve Waugh delivery and took down one pigeon.

Favourite - Inzamam getting dismissed a few minutes before lunch. The dilemma is palpable. Does he:

a) Stroll off slowly, looking disappointed, and head straight for the restaurant with his pads on, confident that he will be first in the queue for lunch (and with bat to hand just in case Woolmer's got there first and there's only one treacle pudding)

b) Race off, heading for the dressing-room to shed his pads and box BEFORE heading straight for the restaurant, doubtful as to whether he will be first for lunch but still prepared to do battle with Woolmer if there's only one treacle pudding.

- Fast bowlers hitting their straps and feeling the hairs on the back of my neck stand up (Lee, Shoiab and even Harmison on a good day)
- Quality quicks and determined batsmen indulging in modern trench warfare (eg Donald vs Atherton)
- Batsman treating spinners with the disrespect they deserve. "Oh, you bowl slow....fetch"
- Batsmen getting hit by a fast bowler
- Harmison batting (comedy pull shots)
- Seeing smaller nations eg Holland, Scotland, Ireland and Nepal progress. Makes me very happy
- Great and clever bowling (eg Cairns slower ball to Read where he ducked a 'beamer' but was actually yorked)
- Tests that last 5 days

Dreaded
- Andre Nel
- Steve Bucknor
- Indian crowds (a little too hectic and not enough personal space for my liking. I always worry that if someone has a contagious disease that tens of thousands will catch it)
- Batsmen who bat like they have ADD. Concentrate and build an innings rather than just bash the ball around.
- Politics, Politics, Politics

In all honesty there are thousands of good points and a fair few others I dont like but this is just off the top of my head.

-Engalnd's fearsome foursome fit and hunting as a pack.

Dreaded

-MS Dhoni's slapshot for six. He can do it to any ball.
-Inzaman ul-Haq, Jaques Kallis and Rahul Dravid. Nasser hussien-like dtermination with alot of talent and not english
