Have the 2007 one on the shelf but haven't read it yet and not sure if I'll ever get around to it (only bought it as it was pretty cheap), has anyone and is it any good?

Picked up A History of Australian Cricket by Chris Harte and Bernard Whimpress today and was also coincidentally given The Pictorial History of Australian Cricket by Jack Pollard today as well.

The West Indies, including Sobers in particular, cop quite a serve from Simmo.
Picked up a copy of a first edition at the 2nd hand bookstore on the weekend. I can see why the chapter on "Chuckers" caused a bit of a stir.

The Harte/Whimpress effort is definitely comprehensive, albeit little dry.

Just got 'Mystery Spinner', Gideon Haigh's book on Jack Iverson, out of the library and very surprised not to see a review on here - or have I missed it?
