Hopes

England find a match-winning spinner, or alternatively Blackwell or Loudon come through to be a batter/ all-rounder.
That the Ashes series will be as thrilling as this year (same result would be nice too  ).
Hildreths emergence as a Test player.
That English cricket doesn't lose it momentum from this year
Exeter win play-offs
Bangladesh improve, as they are the future of cricket, wish Rafique was English

Expectations

Giles will play every match, coz hes a thoroughly nice bloke.
Aussies will produce turners and MacGill and Warne will moirder us.
Ponting will still whinge
Zummerset will promise much, and produce little
The pathetic ICC will allow the Zim farce to carry on unabated
Exeter will miss the play-offs by a point
Cricket will be utterly ignore in England when the World Cup in Germany starts

Happy new year to you all, though, despite my miserablist predictions :D

Still younger then Udal

When I talk about Bangladeshs potential, I'm more referring to population and fanaticism meaning they will improve :D

Would you really rather see Australia thump England or another close series Andy?
How about 5-0 to Australia, but all really close matches?

Please, God, no. I don't know what I'd do if that happened again...
Oh my predictions are always wrong, so I'm hoping ALL mine will prove utterly without foundation

Hopes
Zimbabwe lose Test status
Bangladesh improve
The Ashes to be an entertaining series
By, some miracle, we discover a spinner who can be an attacking force

Expectations
The Ashes to be a really close series, hopefully we win it (I'm not too bothered about the Pakistan series and it doesn't make us a bad side, we just can't play in Asia)
Warne to terrorize more English batsmen, MacGill to do OK but not great in The Ashes
England to lose in India but hammer Sri Lanka and Pakistan at home
Flintoff, by the end of the year, to be recognised as the best seamer in the World.

I'm mercifully at home for Christmas. City... City... City... words fail me.

Forget expectations, they're boring, for now let's stick to Hopes, and not the dodgy allrounder.
1) England win in India
2) England whitewash Sri Lanka
3) England take revenge over Pakistan
4) England retain the Ashes
5) Exeter City win the Conference
6) Exeter CC Colts win all four East Devon Junior Leagues
7) East Devon Colts win all six Devon Leagues
8) The inaugural East Devon U9 Colts Tournament is a success
9) Exeter University CC 4th XI have a great season
10) I score fifty runs for the summer
11) I take ten wickets for the summer
12) I hit a six
13) I make a stumping
14) Bradstock: Pulling Together gets published
15) England win the World Cup
16) I get a First
17) I get onto a PGCE

Expectations for 2006
1. Australia's dominance continues and England, although a solid side, prove to be overhyped following the Ashes victory
2. India and Pakistan continue to become professional, disciplined sides and finally rise to their potential and become the top challengers to the Aussies
3. Sri Lanka declines rapidly as their lack of firepower is exposed with the rise of Ind & Pak ... leading to the discovery of some new young talents hopefully
4. Australia take back the Ashes by a handy margin
5. A few genuine pace bowlers emerge in the Indian team ... vrv singh, munaf patel, etc
6. England searches for/finds an effective spinner to replace Ashley Giles
7. New talent emerges in Bangladesh, they'll compete for the 2011 world cup

Hopes for 2006
1. India achieves absolute excellence, pathan bowls at more pace and troubles the top sides, piyush chawla emerges as a quality spinner, ganguly destroys the ***** and then gracefully retires, dhoni overtakes gilchrist, and much more ...

Wishing a Happy New Year to the CW Community!

Sir Redman

State Vice-Captain
Hopes

1) NZ to be undefeated in tests
2) Craig McMillian to be kept out of the NZ team
3) Marshall, How and Fulton to become fixtures in the NZ team
4) Ponting, Warne etc to be fined for over-appealing/dissent
5) Supersubs, Powerplays abolished
6) John Bracewell to stop making ridiculous statements in press conferences

Expectations

1) Trademark second innings middle-order collapses losing us games
2) McMillan given his squillionth reprieve due to his aggresive batting and value as a "floater"
3) One of Marshall, How and Fulton to be given the "Sinclair treatment" after one or two bad scores
4) The usual wussing out of fining the Australians
5) More stupid alterations to ODIs
6) Bracewell showing further symptoms of foot-in-mouth disease with more gems completely contradicting reality and/or what he has said previously

Pessimistic? Not at all :whistling:
