    The Unsung Awards

This is where the people who contribute significantly to a match (but are overshadowed by hundreds, five-fors and collapses) are given the recognition they deserve, as appropriated by you.

    The awards include:

    Tailender of the Year
    Catch of the Year
    Drop of the Year
    Run-out of the Year
    Overall Fielding of the Year
Lone Hand (in a single match) of the Year
    Part-Time Bowler of the Year
Non-MotM Winning Performance of the Year
Overall Unsung Hero of the Year

Clarke's run out was no doubt absolutely brilliant, but clearly the run out of the year was Pratt's run out of Ponting (That one's for parttimer).

Very Ashes heavy-list, I'm afraid, but what are you gonna do?!?

Tailender of the Year: Iím not sure heíll qualify as a tail-ender, rather a lower-order batsman now, but Brett Lee
Catch of the Year: Collingwood catching Hayden in the Nat West
Drop of the Year: Warne dropping KP, although Kallis shelling Hussey has come in with a late burst!
Run-out of the Year: Has to be Pratt getting Punter.
Overall Fielding of the Year: Collingwood
    Lone Hand (in a single match) of the Year: Fred @ Edgbaston: 68 & 73 and 3-52 & 4-79. Plus 2 catches!
Part-Time Bowler of the Year: Anyone bowling to Michael Vaughan! Katich & Punter both got him!
Non-MotM Winning Performance of the Year: Probably Warneís 12 wickets @ The Oval in the 5th test.
    Overall Unsung Hero of the Year: Hoggard. 26 wickets v SA, 14 v Bangladesh, 16 v Oz & 11 v Pakistan.

I just want to give the Overall award to......Matthew Hoggard

I reckon he is one of the best swing bowlers in the World. People go on about Jones (after he had one good series against the Aussies) but Hoggard has been doing it for a while now. I think he has over 200 wickets already. He doesnt get all the limelight as its taken by the other 3 in Flintoff, Harmie and Jones. I would rate Hoggard higher than both Jones and Harmie. BIg call I know but he is always on the spot, gets a good % of LBW/Bowled as well. Top bowler with a huge heart but has a poor haircut. Needs to take Bracken with him to the barbers..

Also tailender has to go to Brett Lee. Has contributed a fair bit with the bat this year. Has shown that he has the technique to maybe finish with a test average over 30 which would be a great effort.

Daniel Vettori could get a place in greatest catch of the year when he got cameron white caught off the bowling of Chris Martin in the final chappel/hadlee game - check it out at blackcaps.co.nz and go to 431 club if you want to see it. They have got a good fanclub who else can watch highlights of a game for free whenever you want! Anyway tail ender of the year probably should be a Bangladesh player as tail enders often score higher than the openers when I see the scorecard.
