Our local rules are that leg before wicket can only occur if the batsman offers no shot and the ball strikes him on or below the knee (usually made easier to adjudge when the batsman is wearing shorts). I think its a fair rule cause it means someone cant just stand in front of the stumps but you also dont get appeals for lbw every 5 seconds.

they do at my house i usually bowl leggies (which my brother smash!!) and sometimes i get him plum and it is up too the Batsman to say hes out and he has to b honest, same with edges, if he snicks it and i don't appeal he will say and he will b out

depends what ya play with. if its a tennis ball then it is exremely difficult to get them out lbw unless u york them or get them on the full or half volley. youve got guts if your playing backyard cricket with a cricket ball. neigbours would kill me if i did that. But LBW's do exist in backyard cricket and its up to the bowler and the mid on feilder to adjudge whether its out or not

We never allow LBWs. All it results is in disputes and subsequent bodyline tactics.

in backyard or street cricket, there is no umpires let alone LBW's. Shouting for an LBW just makes you look stupid. You can never agree on it so what is the point. Besides if you get hit in the leg and you can carry on good on you.
In bkyard cricket lbw appeals are rarer than bowling the batsmen out, as he attempts to smash you out of the ground every ball
