Pawar wins, Dalmiya loses

With a margin of defeat of 10 against 20 votes, Dalmiya's supremacy in Indian cricket seems to have ended. Does it mean an end to Ganguly's career too ?

Pawar being a Congress politician(?) and the congress party ruling in India seems to have been a major factor for the voting trend.

Dalmiya is backed by the BJP if I am not wrong.

Since I have zero knowledge on Indian politics was this result a given then?
If it was any one else standing against Pawar it was a given thing. But it was a Dalmiya faction so nothing could be assumed till the last moment.

- The three selctors considered Dalmiya's men removed ! (All three had voted for Ganguly's inclusion)
- Captain and Coach being proposed to be co-opted on selection panel for future !
- Gavaskar might be removed as Chairman of NCA (National Cricket Academy) !!!

Changes in selection committee was due soon after the elections. So it was considered a given in it would happen.

There is also talk of bringing in a CEO for the board.

If they really want to show guts two things will be all that is necessary:

1) Remove zonal selection formation
2) Bring domestic cricket to the masses

Its not as difficult as it sounds if an intent existed though.

Here is the next bombshell

Justics done if you ask me. They were practically robbed by the earlier establishment after they had outbidded everyone else. Then got entangled in procedural court delays by Dalmiya who would prefer a rotten production by state owned Prasar Bharati (and involvement of the Govt body gave him some clout with ministers that enabled him to carry on the unfair treatment to Zee) rather than give up on his obstinacy to award the rights to his favourites.

Some legends on the team of ESPN/Star are going to be as disappointed with this as they have shown in their open/subtle support for Dalmiya, Ganguly et al. There is always more than meets the eye in the muck of Indian cricket establishment.
