This is something I heard being talked about on the commentary before and I wanted to get your opinions on it.

If Shane Warne was born "Dwayne Warne" in the West Indies would have he had such an amazing career, or would he have even played more than 1 test.

The commentators believe that there is now way Warne would've had the same career had he been from the West Indies. The arguments they used were.
1) in West Indies the use of leg spinners isn't encouraged.
2) He returned figures of 1/150 in his first test inning.

Regarding whether he would be dropped after one poor performance - even if he was he would have made a come back within a short time as lesser talent has shown to come back and Warne would be persisted with in the long run.

Then he got 0/107 in the 1st innings vs Sri Lanka then the 3/11...after those 3 tests, his average was an appalling 86.50!

how can you be so sure??? how is talent measured over there?
if he came back with an avg of 86 after the first three test matches would the selectors still be able to see the talent in him.

There are only that many players right. There are not a lot of FC teams like in India. And Windies haven given so many players chances and repeat chances after performances at FC level despite nothing to show of internationally.

but would they give a spinner so many chances considering the apparent attitude towards spinners in the carribean. maybe as a fast bowler he would've got chances but not as a spinner.

Nagamootoo played 5 tests - with at least 4 come backs as he never played consecutive tests. And his average in the end was 53.

His FC average is around 28. Warne would average much better than that surely.

in Warnes autobiography it said the selecters were really desperate to develop and top spinner, thats why they persisted with him

I doubt he would have even got a test because he wasn't setting the world on fire in fc before his test debut

Omari Banks has played 10 tests for an average of 48.82. After three tests, he averaged 74.71. His first class average is 37.99.

He is still in the frame as well.

Dhanraj is now long retired, but barring injury or retirement, Dave Mohammed WILL play for the West Indies again.
