Drama in national stadium

CZ declared taking a lead of 100 courtesy of another century by Marshall Ayub (125). SZ bowled out for 200 odd in the 2nd Innings leaving CZ a target of 127.

CZ made a mess of this at the start, five wickets fell for around 20 odd; Robiul Islam ripped through top order by picking up a hattrick bowling three batsman out for duck including Ashraful, Marshall Ayub and Mehrab Jr. Now Mahmudullah steadying the ship but can he take CZ home? Score is currently 59/5

Summary after Round 2

So after the lackluster draws in Round 1 although the match in Mirpur came to alive somewhat when Robiul picked up the hattrick and gave his team SZ an outside chance of victory but CZ's Mahmudullah with a hamstring injury saved the match with an unbeaten 50.

Round 2 was somewhat more exciting. SZ defeated EZ by 37 runs. Shohag Gazi and Anamul Haque were outstanding in the match. Gazi picked up 6 wickets and 5 wickets respectively and Anamul scored 74 and 73 in tough conditions. The other match in Bagura was drawn. NZ reached 361, Mushfiqur Rahim was left stranded in 76*. CZ scored 436 courtesy of Ashraful (133) coming back to form after a long hiatus and Mehrab Jr (131). In Nz's 2nd Innings, Nasir Hossain finally broke the barrier of 100.

Marshall Ayub hit another double ton (251*) and was involved in a partnership of 472 runs with Mehrab Jr. Must be some sort of record; I'll be really surprised if Marshall Ayub doesn't get a call up against the Lankans in the next month.

National Under-18 Cricket Competition

Three-Day Matches between U18 Cricketers will start from Jan 18. Think it's a great step that good amount of consideration is given to youth level.
The competition, which will be contested by 10 teams and played in five venues, will be conducted with an aim to build a formidable Under-19 team for the upcoming World Cup in 2013. The players, after an age verification programme, participated in a 50-over divisional competition. Players selected from the competition were then hardened through a skill camp, following which the divisional teams were formed.

The ten teams have been divided into two groups. Dhaka South, Khulna, Rangpur, Dhaka Metro and Chittagong have been placed in group A while Group B is made up of Dhaka North, Rajshahi, Sylhet, Barisal and BKSP.

Looks like Dhaka Premier League will have the List A status

Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League 2012-13 starts September 10

The Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League 2012-13 will commence September 10, the Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM) decided today.

CCDM Chairman Jalal Yunus said: “We are in the final stages of preparing the itinerary. The complete schedule will be circulated to the clubs soon. The teams had requested us to give them some time for coordination and training and all things considered we felt that September 10 should be an ideal date to start the League.”

The Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League, a 12-team one day competition under the jurisdiction of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), is the main limited overs event in the domestic calendar. The BCB has decided that from this season onwards the League’s matches will have List A status.
Foreign players including Yuvraj, Dilshan, Jeevan Mendis, Chigumbura among many others will participate in the league.

Yeah, about time. It's been the most hotly contested OD tournament in Bangladesh for years; it's been a constant annoyance that it hasn't had List A status.

Domestic Season 2015/2016

A new one day domestic competition as part of BCL (longer version) has been announced. It seems like the decision was taken in a rush and it popped out of nowhere. Tbh I don't see the purpose of this very short tourney before BCL. Yes may be a good preparation for the upcoming series against Pakistan but the players are probably tired and fatigued from the long world cup campaign. This will start in first week of April and end in 11th April followed by a camp before Pakistan series which is likely to start in third week of April. BCL, longer day version, will start from 20th April.

About Mushfiqur:

I already mentioned in NZ series thread that Mushfiq seems to be perfect for tough conditions but when you need 9/10 RPO, he does not cut it really. But from selectors POV, the selection is understandable.

About Soumya Sarkar:

Should not be in the squad imo.

Otherwise not too much complaints about the squad as they are the group of players playing in last few series together. I don’t have really too much hope for this squad in t20. When we go out of our comfort zone, we are going to be exposed.
