Shahriar Nafees Makes Fifty But Bowlers Fight Back

After polishing off the Chittagong tail in the morning, the Dhaka batsman found the going tough against a fairly inexperienced Chittagong bowling attack, and owed a great deal to the spirited resistance of young all rounder Mahmudallah. Dhaka, incidentally, are missing both of the in-form openers, Javed Omar and Rashidul Haque.

The Rajshahi tail captitulated early on as left armer Enamul Haque jnr finished with three wickets, as did seamer Nazmul, while Hasibul took four. The match itself though remains firmly in the balance.

Chittagong virtually sealed off the possibility of losing as Faisal and Dhiman piled on an unbroken 126 for the sixth wicket, after an early wobble against Mohammad Rafique who curiously opened the bowling, perhaps showing the nature of the pitch. Khaled Mahmud had put up a spirited resistance, adding 85 with Anwar Hossain for the last wicket.

Ehsanul Haque's in the runs again. Hopefully this doesn't mean a recall to the national team. We all remember what happened last time. I'd say Mohammedan are favourites again with City Club also right up there this year. Last year's premiers Victoria will be lucky to win another game IMO.

On another note the U19's final is today. It will be played between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

Tikolo the all-rounder.

He is probably the best player ever from a non-Test playing nation, I reckon he could maybe, given the practice and time, have played for any ODI or Test side at his peak. It also shows the quality of Bangladesh club cricket. Mohammad Rafique has got eight cheap wickets in two games now - IMO he could have played for a few other Test nations as well, certainly better than anything England, Windies or South Africa have produced.
