Bangladesh A: Javed Omar, Jahurul Islam, Rajin Saleh, Tushar Imran (c), Marshall Ayub, Alok Kapali, Saghir Hossain (wk), Tapash Baisya, Mohammad Sharif, Enamul Haque jnr, Mohammad Shahzada.

Zimbabwe's tour of Bangladesh finished on a high note as they carved out a respectable draw. A strong first-innings batting display took the tourists to 276-4 at the close on day one, but Shahzada's pace triggered a collapse of five wickets for 10 runs. In reply, Javed Omar and Jahurul Islam put on an opening stand of 111 for Bangladesh A, with the former going on to be ninth out for 173. Zimbabwe's batting clicked on the final two days, and Sean Williams continued to impress with an unbeaten 85, his fifth half-century of the tour.

Jumbo, when is the next phase of NCL will start?
Sometime after the DPL finishes, so I guess from the end of February onwards. They've still got the OD NCL to fit in as well.

Group A - 9AM start

DCS: Old DOHS beat Partex by 96 runs
Old DOHS 184-7 (20)
Tamim Iqbal 67 (41b, 9x4, 3x6)), Mehrab Hossain jnr 52 (52); Ahsanullah Hasan 3-29
Partex 88 (19)
Niamur Rashid 17, Aslam Ali 17; Shahadat Hossain 2-8, Nazmul Hossain 2-14, Khaled Mahmud 2-14, Mehrab Hossain jnr 2-??

A mammoth opening stand of 112 in 12 overs between new signings Tamim and Mehrab allowed reigning DPL champions DOHS to rack up the biggest score of the day. After that, it was just a formality as a weak Partex side crumbled.

BKSP-1: Biman beat City Club by 56 runs
Biman 164-6 (20)
Farhad Reza 50 (26), Raqibul Hasan 49
City Club 108 (19.4)
Mushtaq 25, Ishraq Sonet 20; Farhad Reza 2-20

Farhad Reza starred with bat and ball as Biman started solidly against a weak City Club side.

BKSP-2: Victoria beat Kalabagan by 60 runs
Victoria 157-8 (20)
Hasanuzzaman 40 (25b, 3x4, 2x6); Rashidul Islam 5-21
Kalabagan 97 (17.1)
Nahidul Haque 29; Saqlain Sajib 3-19

Last year's surprise package Victoria completed a convincing victory. They, along with Biman and DOHS, will be the team to beat in this group.

Group B - 1PM start

DCS: Mohammedan beat Indira by 3 wickets
Indira 118-8 (20)
Al Mamun 26 (26), Mehdi Hasan 20; Imtiaz Hossain 2-7, Saqibul Hasan 2-13, Tapash Baisya 2-19
Mohammedan 119-7 (19.4)
Aftab Ahmed 30 (3x4), Imtiaz Hossain 24, Tapash Baisya 23*; Tariqul 4-21

An extremely unconving Mohammedan stuttered to victory over minnows Indira, thanks to Tapash's performances with bat and ball.

BKSP-1: Sonargaon beat Young Pegasus by 7 wickets
Young Pegasus 117-9 (20)
Jubair 29; Mohammad Rafique 3-12, Mohammad Sharif 2-??
Sonargaon 121-3 (14)
Marshall Ayub 53 (23b, 4x4, 5x6)

Sonorgaon set out their stall by crushing newly promoted Young Pegasus, courtesy of Rafique's experience and Ayub's explosives.

BKSP-2: Abahani beat Brothers by 6 wickets
Brothers 71 (19.5)
Suhrawadi Shuvo 3-9, Ziaur Rahman 3-12, Mashrafe Mortaza 2-7
Abahani 72-4 (16.4)
Nazimuddin 21

Brothers put in a miserable batting display as they were hammered by Abahani. Some of the old pros obviously don't quite get this Twenty20 lark yet though - Khaled Mashud made six not out off 33 balls.

Second round on Friday.

I'm reminded of Sunny Gavaskar...

I am impressed with some of the bowlers performance.

Rashedul achieved a fifer (5/21), Tariqul took 4 wickets. A number of bowlers including Rafiq took 3 wickets.

In present form it will be difficult to restrict old DOHS, blazing young guns :)

IMO, Sonargaon and DOHS are most likely to play finals.

Khaled Mashud probably made World Record for slowest Twenty20 innings.

Another team who seem to have missed the point of Twenty20.

Mashud must have scored at a fair lick today. Or was he dropped after the elongated six?

Close to emailing the BCB for scorecards here. I'm currently trying to compile last year's DPL averages, taking ages...

There's a few scorecards I still need, including a few of this year's CCL games and last year's DPL relegation playoffs. It's a long, hard task though - some players are known by more than one name, so there's a bit of detective work involved.
