Chittagong, day three: Sylhet, with nine second innings wickets remaining, lead Chittagong by 42 runs
Sylhet* 305 (101.4)
Golam Rahman 25, Golam Mabyd 85, Tapash Baisya 112 (173b, 9x4, 2x6); Tareq Aziz 3-67, Shabbir Khan 3-106, Elias Sunny 2-50
Chittagong 360 (137)
Masumud Dowla 25, Ehsanul Haque 153 (334b, 16x4), Faisal Hossain 121 (239b, 17x4), Elias Sunny 27; Enamul Haque jnr 4-84, Nazmul Hossain 3-63, Rezaul Haque 2-44
Sylhet 97-1 (29)
Golam Rahman 39*, Alok Kapali 33*

Ehsanul and Faisal took their unbroken overnight stand of 167 to 225 before Faisal, who was far from the fluent batsman of the day before, fell to Enamul. Elias Sunny then provided useful support for Ehsanul as the pair took the Chittagong total past Sylhet's. But Sylhet pushed themselves back into the match, thanks to Enamul and Nazmul, who cleaned up the tail, and some positive batting from Golam and Alok to regain the lead.

Rajshahi, day three: Rajshahi, with seven second innings wickets remaining, require 178 runs to be Khulna
Khulna* 179 (65.5)
Sajjadul Hasan 72, Abdur Razzak 25; Mushfiqur Rahman 5-51, Mohammad Shahzada 3-49, Shafaq Al Zabir 2-44
Rajshahi 265 (76.5)
Junaid Siddique 88, Naeem Islam 59; Abdur Razzak 5-55, Dolar Mahmud 2-61, Ziaur Rahman 2-65
Khulna 312 (97)
Nazmus Sadat 59, Sajjadul Hasan 35, Tushar Imran 46, Manjural Islam Rana 37, Saghir Hossain 46, Ziaur Rahman 30; Mohammad Shahzada 7-95
Rajshahi 49-3 (24)
Junaid Siddique 31*, Mushfiqur Rahim 10*; Adbur Razzak 2-14

Khulna wrestled hard on day three to regain control of an up-and-down match. There was no significant performance in their innings but eight batsmen made double figures (and Dolar Mahmud finished 1*), despite Shahzada completing his first ten wicket haul. The telling blows were however landed by Razzak and Syed Rasel to set Rajshahi on the back foot in the final session.

Dhaka, day two: Dhaka, with ten second innings wickets remaining, lead Barisal by 241 runs
Dhaka* 370 (108.5)
Al Sahariar 55, Mohammad Ashraful 121 (158b, 19x4), Nadif Chowdhury 33, Mohammad Sharif 41*; Sajidul Islam 5-61, Ali Arman 2-67
Barisal 175 (57.3)
Imran Ahmed 26, Humayun Kabir 64, Ishraq Sonet 27; Shahadat Hossain 3-15, Mohammad Rafique 3-43, Mohammad Ashraful 2-3
Dhaka 46-0 (9)
Javed Omar 23*, Mehrab Hossain 21*

The strong Dhaka bowling attack reduced Barisal to shreds on day two at the Dhanmondi and should wrap up an easy victory tomorrow. Barisal captain Shahriar Nafees disappointed, making just one before being bowled by Shahadat Hossain and the only significant contribution was from Humayun. In reply Dhaka thumped home their advantage, putting themselves in a position to declare early tomorrow, perhaps after some quick runs from Ashraful. Earlier in the day Sharif had hit a rapid 41 to take Dhaka to 370.

Six I think. The media sources I use all get updated at 1800 GMT, so I gather that's midnight Dhaka time.

Last week's round:

Chittagong: Chittagong (4pts) drew with Sylhet (2pts)
Sylhet* 305 (101.4)

Golam Rahman 25, Golam Mabyd 85, Tapash Baisya 112 (173b, 9x4, 2x6); Tareq Aziz 3-67, Shabbir Khan 3-106, Elias Sunny 2-50
Chittagong 360 (137)
Masumud Dowla 25, Ehsanul Haque 153 (334b, 16x4), Faisal Hossain 121 (239b, 17x4), Elias Sunny 27; Enamul Haque jnr 4-84, Nazmul Hossain 3-63, Rezaul Haque 2-44
Sylhet 305 (115.4)
Golam Rahman 58, Alok Kapali 40, Rajin Saleh* 87, Nazmul Hossain 49; Shabbir Khan 7-134

What was potentially an engaging last day in Chittagong petered out into a bore draw. The Chittagong spinners bowled for most of the day, allowing Shabbir Khan to collect ten wickets in the match. Rajin Saleh's 87 came on the same day he was dropped by the national selectors: with no players involved with the ODI side, Sylhet should be a strong side over the next few weeks.

Rajshahi: Rajshahi (6pts) beat Khulna by seven wickets
Khulna* 179 (65.5)
Sajjadul Hasan 72, Abdur Razzak 25; Mushfiqur Rahman 5-51, Mohammad Shahzada 3-49, Shafaq Al Zabir 2-44
Rajshahi 265 (76.5)
Junaid Siddique 88, Naeem Islam 59; Abdur Razzak 5-55, Dolar Mahmud 2-61, Ziaur Rahman 2-65
Khulna 312 (97)
Nazmus Sadat 59, Sajjadul Hasan 35, Tushar Imran 46, Manjural Islam Rana 37, Saghir Hossain 46, Ziaur Rahman 30; Mohammad Shahzada 7-95
Rajshahi 49-3 (24)
Junaid Siddique 114* (204b, 13x4, 1x6), Hasanuzzaman 49; Syed Rasel 3-64, Abdur Razzak 3-64

Junaid Siddique's maiden first class ton held reigning champions together as they prevailed in a thrilling run chase. Having looked down and out at 107 for five, Junaid and Hasanuzzaman put on 109 for the sixth wicket to clinch Rajshahi six points.

Dhaka: Dhaka (6pts) beat Barisal by 248 runs
Dhaka* 370 (108.5)Al Sahariar 55, Mohammad Ashraful 121 (158b, 19x4), Nadif Chowdhury 33, Mohammad Sharif 41*; Sajidul Islam 5-61, Ali Arman 2-67
Barisal 175 (57.3)
Imran Ahmed 26, Humayun Kabir 64, Ishraq Sonet 27; Shahadat Hossain 3-15, Mohammad Rafique 3-43, Mohammad Ashraful 2-3
Dhaka 265-6 declared (70)
Javed Omar 68, Mehrab Hossain jnr 98, Mohammad Sharif 35*; Hannan Sarkar 2-54Barisal 212 (75.3)
Shahriar Nafees 56, Arafat Salahuddin 61; Mohammad Rafique 4-49, Mohammad Ashraful 2-59

Dhaka slaughtered Barisal by a huge margin to go top of the NCL. Big hitting from Sharif and Nadif Chowdhury capitalised on a solid base from Mehrab and Javed, and the bowlers then made short work of the Barisal batsmen. Shahriar Nafees did however make a timely fifty, having failed in the first innings.

Today's update:

Dhaka: Barisal, with three first innings wickets remaining, lead Khulna by 245 runs
Barisal* 245-7 (90)
Humayun Farhat 65, Abul Bashar 30, Arafat Salahuddin 62*, Lablur Rahman 49; Tapash Ghosh 4*; Dolar Mahmud 5-40

In a bizarre opening day at the Dhanmondi, Dolar Mahmud reduced Barisal to 8-4 inside six overs, with the first four batsmen all scoring one. However Barisal rebuilt through Humayun and Arafat, who both also scored fifties against Dhaka, and will probably end the first day the happier of the two sides.

Chittagong: Chittagong lead Dhaka by 238 runs
Chittagong* 238 (88)

Tamim Iqbal 84, Masumud Dowla 57, Elias Sunny 34; Mohammad Sharif 4-66, Talha Jubair 2-52, Mosharraf Hossain 2-75

Chittagong started brightly against the favourites, but lost all ten wickets for a mere 94 runs in 45.2 overs. It took some dogged resistance form Elias to lift the score over the 200 mark. Mohammad Ashraful continued his successful run with the ball for Dhaka, taking 1-22 from seven overs a leg-spin. The prodigious Uttam Sarkar also got his first run out of the season, complete with updated stats from Cricinfo. He had figures of 7-2-16-0.

Rajshahi: Rajshahi, with nine first innings wickets remaining, trail Sylhet by 67 runs
Sylhet* 181 (57.4)
Imtiaz Hossain 97, Golam Mabud 31; Mohammad Shahzada 3-69, Mushfiqur Rahman 3-29, Alamgir Kabir 3-45
Rajshahi 114-1 (32)
Junaid Siddique 5 retired hurt, Farhad Hossain 50*, Naeem Islam 48*

Sylhet chose to bat first, but only Imtiaz Hossain made the bowlers work in his 155-ball 97. The Rajshahi pace trio are again showing the form that gave them the title last season and Shahzada in particular cannot be far from the selectors' minds when choosing the next 'A' side. In reply Junaid was forced to retire hurt early on and Anisur Rahman went soon after, but Rajshahi cruised to the close through an unbroken stand of 83. Mushfiqur Rahim kept wicket for Rajshahi in the absence of Khaled Mashud and took five catches.

Dhaka: Khulna, with two first innings wickets remaining, trail Barisal by 105 runs
Barisal* 286 (113.4)
Humayun Farhat 65, Abul Bashar 30, Arafat Salahuddin 94*, Lablur Rahman 49; Tapash Ghosh; Dolar Mahmud 5-44, Manjural Islam Rana 2-34
Khulna 181-8 (66)
Nazmus Sadat 36, Saghir Hossain 26, Mohammad Salim 34*, Dolar Mahmud 28*; Arafat Salahuddin 2-20, Hannan Sarkar 2-38, Tapash Ghosh 2-34

Khulna's batting order, weakened by the loss of Habibul Bashar and Tushar Imran, struggled to cope with a Barisal attack lacking any real stars. Nazmus Sadat looked good for his 36 before falling to Hannan Sarkar's medium-pace. Earlier Arafat Salahuddin left stranded six short of a hundred after adding 41 crucial runs to the Barisal total. Some economical figures among the Khulna bowlers: Islam Rana conceded just 34 from 12 overs, Manjural Islam 14 from 20.

Chittagong: Dhaka, with six first innings wickets remaining, lead Chittagong by 94 runs
Chittagong* 238 (88)
Tamim Iqbal 84, Masumud Dowla 57, Elias Sunny 34; Mohammad Sharif 4-66, Talha Jubair 2-52, Mosharraf Hossain 2-75
Dhaka 332-4 (90)
Mohammad Ashraful 166* (216b, 21x4), Marshall Ayub 103* (213, 8x4, 2x6); Elias Sunny 2-104

Mohammad Ashraful gave a clear reminder to the selectors of his destructive potential as he and Marshall Ayub torched Chittagong on day two. Dhaka had been floundering at 58-4, but the pair added an unbeaten 274 for the fifth wicket, shredding a Chittagong attack with limited options. This is now Ashraful's highest career score, surpassing the 158* he made on Test debut against Sri Lanka.

Rajshahi: Sylhet, with eight second innings wickets remaining, trail Rajshahi by 141 runs
Sylhet* 181 (57.4)
Imtiaz Hossain 97, Golam Mabud 31; Mohammad Shahzada 3-69, Mushfiqur Rahman 3-29, Alamgir Kabir 3-45
Rajshahi 328 (102.2)
Junaid Siddique 44, Farhad Hossain 75, Naeem Islam 51, Mushfiqur Rahman 50*, Mohammad Shahzada 26; Nabil Samad 5-76, Hasibul Hossain 2-67, Alok Kapali 2-89
Sylhet 6-2 (5.1)
Imtiaz Hossain 1*, Alok Kapali 0*; Mohammad Shahzada 2-6

There were contributions from all over the Rajashahi batting card as they posted a respectable 328 in reply to Sylhet's 181. Left arm spinner Nabil Samad claimed five wickets, but youngster Mushfiqur Rahim made only 15 for Rajshahi. Sylhet's hopes of then taking anything from the game were then put to rest by Shahzada, who continued his brilliant start to the season by whipping out Golam Rahman and nightwatchman Rezaul Haque. Sylhet face an innings defeat.

Ashraful's gunning it. Conflict with Whatmore appears to have made him hungrier.
How many runs does Ehsanul have to score before the selectors take notice. Reminds me of the season Minhazul Abedin hit 1000 and was ignored.

Great to see Mohammad Ashraful in the runs, if he continues this then I think he will regain a little bit of respect from the coaches. For so long he had been hailed as the best batsman to come from Bangladesh and now he is beginning to show why.

Dhaka: Barisal, with four second innings wickets remaining, lead Khulna by 279 runs
Barisal* 286 (113.4)

Humayun Farhat 65, Abul Bashar 30, Arafat Salahuddin 94*, Lablur Rahman 49; Tapash Ghosh; Dolar Mahmud 5-44, Manjural Islam Rana 2-34
Khulna 215 (75.5)
Nazmus Sadat 36, Saghir Hossain 26, Mohammad Salim 38, Dolar Mahmud 28; Arafat Salahuddin 2-20, Hannan Sarkar 2-38, Tapash Ghosh 3-42
Barisal 208-6 (80)
Hannan Sarkar 74, Ali Arman 75, Abul Bashar 27*; Manjural Islam Rana 2-40

Barisal put themselves in a strong position at the close on day three in the capital by finishing Khulna off early on and then opening up a sizeable lead built around a third wicket partnership of 113 between Hannan and Arman.

Chittagong: Chittagong, with five second innings wickets remaining, trail Dhaka by 227 runs
Chittagong* 238 (88)
Tamim Iqbal 84, Masumud Dowla 57, Elias Sunny 34; Mohammad Sharif 4-66, Talha Jubair 2-52, Mosharraf Hossain 2-75
Dhaka 570 (144.4)
Mohammad Ashraful 263 (329b, 31x4, 1x6), Marshall Ayub 145 (295b, 11x4, 2x6), Nadif Chowdhury 64; Ehsanul Haque 4-87, Elias Sunny 3-153
Chittagong 105-5 (35)
Gazi Salahuddin 38, Nazimuddin 16*, Ehsanul Haque 0*; Talha Jubair 2-22, Mahmudullah 2-10

Records tumbled in Chittagong as Mohammad Ashraful continued his slaughter of the home attack well into the third day, punishing both the bowling and the selectors for dropping him from the national squad. Ashraful's 263 set a new record for the highest first class score by a Bangladeshi batsman, beating Habibul Bashar's 224 in 2000-01. He and Marshall Ayub put on 420 for the fifth wicket, only 44 short of Mark and Steve Waugh's world record. Nadif Chowdhury's 71-ball 64 then rubbed salt into Chittagong's wounds. They were still licking them when they returned for their second innings, and in the 35 overs possible the Dhaka seamers made useful inroads. Dhaka look odds-on to maintain their lead at the top.

Rajshahi: Rajshahi, with ten second innings wickets remaining, require 130 runs to beat Sylhet
Sylhet* 181 (57.4)
Imtiaz Hossain 97, Golam Mabud 31; Mohammad Shahzada 3-69, Mushfiqur Rahman 3-29, Alamgir Kabir 3-45
Rajshahi 328 (102.2)
Junaid Siddique 44, Farhad Hossain 75, Naeem Islam 51, Mushfiqur Rahman 50*, Mohammad Shahzada 26; Nabil Samad 5-76, Hasibul Hossain 2-67, Alok Kapali 2-89
Sylhet 277 (88.1)
Golam Mabud 123 (252b, 12x4), Golam Mawla 28, Tapash Baisya 70; Mohammad Shahzada 4-74, Arif Hossain 3-74, Alamgir Kabir 2-46
Rajshahi 1-0 (2.5)
Mahbub Alam 1*, Farhad Hossain 0*[/I]

Rajshahi should wrap up a comfortable victory tomorrow after more wickets for Mohammad Shahzada , who now has 21 wickets in six innings this season. At least Golam Mabud's 123 and the in-form Tapash Baisya's 70 allowed Sylhet to set some sort of target.

Nazmus Sadat 43, Manjural Islam Rana 36, Mohammad Salim 39; Ali Arman 4-9, Arafat Salahuddin 2-31, Hannan Sarkar 2-30, Tapash Ghosh 2-42

Despite Barisal losing their last four wickets in the space of just under eight overs, Khulna's batting again disappointed and they slumped to a 137-run defeat.

Chittagong: Dhaka beat Chittagong by an innings and 126 runs
Chittagong* 238 (88)
Tamim Iqbal 84, Masumud Dowla 57, Elias Sunny 34; Mohammad Sharif 4-66, Talha Jubair 2-52, Mosharraf Hossain 2-75

Chittagong 206 (78.1)
Gazi Salahuddin 38, Nazimuddin 45, Tareq Aziz 39; Mosharraf Hossain 4-60, Talha Jubair 2-35, Mahmudullah 3-22

Chittagong's last five wickets added 101 but they could not avoid succumbing to an inevitably huge defeat following the pounding they took from Ashraful and Ayub and days two and three.

Rajshahi: Rajshahi beat Sylhet by seven wickets
Sylhet* 181 (57.4)

Rajshahi 132-3 (39.3)

Rajshahi cruised to victory, with Alam and Anisur adding 89 for the second wicket.
