I don't really get Bangladesh Domestic Cricket to be perfectly honest, but it's good to have regular scores and updates Jungle Jumbo. It's interesting to see how the various Bangladesh national players are getting on at a first class level. Who would you say is favourite for the final, Acme or Beximco?

Jungle Jumbo

International Vice-Captain
Beximco
Al Sahariar, Alok Kapali, Mohammad Ashraful, Kumar Sangakkara, Akram Khan, Nadif Chowdhury, Khaled Mahmud, Mashrafe Mortaza, Mohammad Sharif, Abdur Razzak, Nazmul Hossain

vs

Acme
Hannan Sarkar, Sanath Jayasuriya, Aftab Ahmed, Habibul Bashar, Marshall Ayub, Dhiman Ghosh, Mohammad Rafique, Manjural Islam Rana, Hasibul Hossain, Monirul Islam (who I think is banned from bowling). Sandeep Sharma will be replaced by Jayasuriya.

It's a toss up TBH but the Beximco attack probably shades it. Jayasuriya could still settle the match in a matter of overs though.

I agree with Beximco having the stronger bowling attack but a batting lineup of Jayasuriya, Aftab Ahmed, Habibul Bashar and Mohammad Rafique is reasonably strong. I'm pickking Beximco to take it though if Jayasuriya doesn't fire.

CCL Final, Tuesday

Acme 235 all out (49.5)
Hannan Sarkar 32, Jayasuriya 14, Aftab Ahmed 56, Habibul Bashar 68; Nazmul Hossain 5-51
Beximco 232 all out (49.2)
Sangakkara 76, Mashrafe Mortaza 33, Abdur Razzak 29
Acme won by 3 runs

Acme became the fifth winner of the Corporate Cricket League in a dramatic victory over Beximco. Requring just nine runs off the final two overs with two wickets remaining, Beximco must have been confident of retaining their title, and despite Mohammad Sharif holeing out to the final ball of the penultimate over, they should still have made the remaining five runs for victory. But Abdur Razzak, who had supported Mashrafe Mortaza in a 46-run partnership for the seventh wicket to keep Beximco in the game, could only sky the experienced Mohammad Rafique to long-on to give Acme the title. Earlier Sanath Jayasuriya had failed to fire for Acme and it was left to the international duo of Habibul Bashar and Aftab Ahmed to raise a significant total before Nazmul Hossain ran through the tail. Beximco started poorly, sliding to 109 for six before Kumar Sangakkara's second consecutive fifty put them back on track.

Thrilling game by the sound of it. Good to see 50's from Ahmed and Bashar, some good tight bowling from Mashrafe Mortaza even if he did bowl 5 wides, that guy has alot of promise.

NCL starts tomorrow. Habibul Bashar (Khulna) and Shahriar Nafees (Barisal) both have minor injuries and will miss their sides' opening clashes as a precaution. National team players will be available for the first two rounds only.

Fixtures - NCL Round One
Rajshahi (holders) v Khulna
Barisal v Dhaka
Chittagong v Sylhet

Gutted about Nafees, he looks to be the future of Bangladesh cricket.

Fatullah: Barisal, with eight second innings wickets remaining, trail Dhaka by 114 runs.
Dhaka* 173 (55.1)

Mohammad Ashraful 29, Shahadat Hossain 37*; Sajidul Islam 4-56, Ishraq Sonet 4-46
Barisal 59-2 (18.3)
Hannan Sarkar 32, Nasiruddin Faruque 10*, Mehdi Hasan 0*

Dhaka's much vaunted batting order crumbled to the new-ball pairing of Sajidul and Ishraq, with Khulna having been asked to field first. Only a tenth wicket partnership of 50 between Shahadat and Mohammad Shakil brought the Dhaka total any degree of respectability. In reply Barisal lost a brace of wickets to the Dhaka seam attack before the close of play, including skipper Hannan with just two overs remaining.

Rajshahi: Khulna, with eight second innings wickets remaining, trail Rajshahi by 87 runs
Rajshahi 127 (61.4)
Naeem Islam 37; Mashrafe Mortaza 4-27, Ziaur Rahman 3-15, Syed Rasel 2-47
Khulna 40-2 (15)
Sajjadul Hasan 20*, Saqibul Hasan 12*; Shafaq Al Zabir 2-23

Holders Rajshahi also found the going tough in their opening fixture, sliding to a meagre 127. Mashrafe removed Jahurul Islam first ball, one of seven victims behind the stumps for Saghir Hossain. Promising youngsters Farhad Reza and Mushfiqur Rahim both failed to deliver. Khulna lost early wickets to leave them 15-2 at one stage, but Sajjadul and Saqibul saw them through to the end of the day without further loss.

Chittagong v Sylhet was abandoned due to rain.

I think we're going to see some low scores to begin with. Look at the results in Sri Lanka's Premier Limited Overs Tournament if you want any further evidence of the amount of rain and thus the greeness of the pitches.

There was a 282 in one of those matches :p

Good to see Mortaza on form tho.

I couldn't post yesterday because of the server change.

Fatullah: Barisal, with five first innings wickets remaining, require another 169 runs to beat Dhaka
Dhaka* 173 (55.1)
Mohammad Ashraful 29, Shahadat Hossain 37*; Sajidul Islam 4-56, Ishraq Sonet 4-46
Barisal 154 (69)
Hannan Sarkar 32, Ishraq Sonet 46*; Mohammad Sharif 4-50, Shahadat Hossain 3-43, Mohammad Rafique 2-28
Dhaka 227 (78.5)
Javed Omar 34, Mehrab Hossain jnr 28, Marshall Ayub 39, Nadif Chowdhury 53*; Ali Arrman 5-25, Ishraq Sonet 2-62, Arafat Salahuddin 2-59
Barisal 78-5 (32)
Shahin Hossain 10*, Ishraq Sonet 0*; Mohammad Rafique 3-22

The Dhaka attack took little mercy on Barisal on the second day of play, as the three pronged attack of Shahadat, Sharif and Rafique (who returned the incredible figures of 25-15-28-2) dismissed them 19 astray of Dhaka's own mediocre first innings effort. Dhaka then built a healthy lead, closing on 63-1, but off-spinnr Ali Arman ran through them on day three to limit Barisal's targtet. Chasing 247, both Barisal openers made starts but were unable to convert them and Rafique chipped away to claim three wickets. However the final day has been postponed due to a nationwide blockade being put in place by a 14-party political faction who, from what I can gather, want the removal of the chief election comissioner. It is unclear when the final day will be played, although Dhaka should have the match in the bag.

Rajshahi: Khulna, with one first innings wicket remaining, trail Rajshahi by 9 runs
Rajshahi 127 (61.4)
Naeem Islam 37; Mashrafe Mortaza 4-27, Ziaur Rahman 3-15, Syed Rasel 2-47
Khulna* 118-9 (45)
Sajjadul Hasan 25, Manjural Islam Rana 24*, Syed Rasel 0*; Shafaq Al Zabir 3-49, Mohammad Shahzada 4-31, Mushfiqur Rahman 2-22

On a rain-affected day two the Rajshahi seamers ripped through the Khulna batting lineup. All nine wickets to fall were caught. The fact that the third day was a washout makes the prospect of the last day more intriguing: there is the distinct possibility of Khulna run-chase in testing conditions and against a strong attack.

Chittagong: Sylhet (following on), with eight second innings wickets remaining, trail Chittagong by 38 runs
Chittagong 268 (89.4)

Gazi Salahuddin 48, Nazimuddin 38, Aftab Ahmed 44, Dhiman Ghosh 26, Extras 42; Tapash Baisya 3-31, Rezaul Haque 3-46, Enamul Haque jnr 2-66
Sylhet* 100 (40.1)
Rajin Saleh 26; Tareq Aziz 4-44, Ashiqur Rahman 2-30, Shabbir Khan 2-5
Sylhet (f/o) 130-2 (55)
Golam Rahman 48, Imtiaz Hossain 33, Alok Kapali 21*, Rajin Saleh 16*; Shabbir Khan 2-27

After the first day was lost to rain, Chittagong put up a respectable total, aided by the numerous no-balls bowled by the Sylhet attack. In reply Sylhet staggered to three-figures against a relatively inferior bowling arsenal and just three batsmen made double figures. However in their second attempt they fared much better and are well positioned to force a draw or perhaps even a victory if one of Rajin or Alok can capitalise on their starts.

Interesting lack of Uttam. :(
It is considering Nadif Chowdhury is playing solely as a batsman.

Final day of Dhaka v Barisal still postponed - no further news

Final day of Rajshahi v Khulna was a washout - match drawn, two points each

Chittagong: Chittagong drew with Sylhet (Chittagong 2pts, Sylhet 2pts)
Chittagong 268 (89.4)

Gazi Salahuddin 48, Nazimuddin 38, Aftab Ahmed 44, Dhiman Ghosh 26, Extras 42; Tapash Baisya 3-31, Rezaul Haque 3-46, Enamul Haque jnr 2-66
Sylhet* 100 (40.1)
Rajin Saleh 26; Tareq Aziz 4-44, Ashiqur Rahman 2-30, Shabbir Khan 2-5
Sylhet (f/o) 294 (115.4)
Golam Rahman 48, Imtiaz Hossain 33, Alok Kapali 35, Rezaul Haque 29, Enamul Haque jnr 42, Nazmul Hossain 39*; Shabbir Khan 6-80, Elias Sunny 2-85
Chittagong 83-6 (30)
Tapash Baisya 4-35

On an interesting final day, Sylhet slid to 222-9, a lead of just 61, before a miraculous partnership of 72 for the tenth wicket between the unlikely pairing of Enamul and Nazmul gave them a real chance of saving the game. Even so, Chittagong could conceivably have chased 134, but found themselves in trouble at 17-3 inside the first five overs. However Elias Sunny and Ehsanul Haque dug in to bring a see-saw match to a close.

The fixtures have been altered because of the blockade. This round's games are supposed to be the same as the first round, but with home advantage to the other side. However the blockade means that they are now at the same venues as beforehand. Go figure.

Chittagong: Sylhet, with three first innings wickets remaining, lead Chittagong by 281 runs
Sylhet* 281-7 (90
)
Golam Rahman 25, Golam Mabyd 85, Tapash Baisya 98*, Enamul Haque jnr 4*; Tareq Aziz 3-53, Elias Sunny 2-50

Having chosen to bat first, Sylhet's top five batsman all failed to capitalise on solid starts and slid to 98-6 before a superb 167-run partnership between wicket-keeper Mabud and seamer Baisya turned the innings around. Mabud eventually fell to Aziz fractionally before the close, having faced 165 balls and hit eight fours and two sixes. Baisya remained unbeaten after 153 deliveries, seven fours and a pair of sixes; it is already his highest first-class score.

Rajshahi: Rajshahi, with ten first innings wickets remaining, trail Khulna by 117 runs
Khulna* 179 (65.5)
Sajjadul Hasan 72, Abdur Razzak 25; Mushfiqur Rahman 5-51, Mohammad Shahzada 3-49, Shafaq Al Zabir 2-44
Rajshahi 62-0 (17)[
Junaid Siddique 40*, Farhad Hossain 9*

The seam trio of Shahzada, Al Zabir and Rahman wrecked havoc among the Khulna batsman for the second time in two games, with only Sajjadul showing any real resistance. Junaid and Farhad then made a solid start to the Rajshahi innings to complete an excellent day for the holders. This game was also subject to a switched venue because of the blockdade. Dhaka v Barisal will be played as soon as possible.

Chittagong, day two: Chittagong, with six first innings wickets remaining, trail Sylhet by 90 runs
Sylhet* 305 (101.4)
Golam Rahman 25, Golam Mabyd 85, Tapash Baisya 112 (173b, 9x4, 2x6); Tareq Aziz 3-67, Shabbir Khan 3-106, Elias Sunny 2-50
Chittagong 215-4 (76)
Masumud Dowla 25, Ehsanul Haque 66*, Faisal Hossain 100* (183b, 17x4); Rezaul Haque 2-30

A giant 167 runs partnership between Ehsanul and Faisal, the colossi of the domestic circuit, brought Chittagong right back into a game they looked out of at 48-4. Nine Sylhet bowlers turned their arm over, but to little avail. Earlier, Tapash Baisya completed his maiden first-class hundred as Sylhet added 24 to their overnight total.

Rajshahi, day two: Khulna, with ten second innings wickets remaining, trail Rajshahi by 6 runs
Khulna* 179 (65.5)
Sajjadul Hasan 72, Abdur Razzak 25; Mushfiqur Rahman 5-51, Mohammad Shahzada 3-49, Shafaq Al Zabir 2-44
Rajshahi 265 (76.5)
Junaid Siddique 88, Naeem Islam 59; Abdur Razzak 5-55, Dolar Mahmud 2-61, Ziaur Rahman 2-65
Khulna 80-0 (28)
Nazmus Sadat 55*, Sajjadul Hasan 24*

A disappointing batting performance from Rajshahi, in which they lost all ten wickets for under 200, allowed Nazmus and Sajjadul to capitalise and put the match back into the balance. Abdur Razzak had done the majority of the damage for Khulna, chiseling through the middle order with his left-arm spin.

Dhaka, day one: Dhaka, with three first innings wickets remaining, lead Barisal by 304 runs
Dhaka* 304-7 (90)

Al Sahariar 55, Mohammad Ashraful 121 (158b, 19x4), Nadif Chowdhury 33; Sajidul Islam 5-47

Mohammad Ashraful ended a lengthy run of poor form with a scintillating hundred to put Dhaka firmly in control against Barisal after the match was delayed by a day due to the blockade. The remainder of the Dhaka top order all made starts but one by one fell victim to Sajidul and Shahin Hossain, who had five wickets and catches respectively. Shahriar Nafees is playing his first NCL game of the season following a slight injury and leads Barisal.
