That's a bit stupid that some of those players are listed as playing for 'ROW' rather than their usual team, after a one-off match. Those ratings looks alright to me, although I'm not sure I'd have Pathan that high.

Since when is Daniel Vettori an all rounder?

Probably since he scored a Test century against Pakistan. He's averaged over 41 with the bat since the start of 2003, so I don't see why he can't be considered an allrounder. Unless you're implying that he can't bowl.

It's all players - basically multiplys batting by bowling - an unfortunately flawed part of an otherwise usually fairly accurate system.

As an example of the flaw, Flintoff is only now rated as number 1 all rounder, in spite of being so for a fair while.

Vettori's certainly an all-rounder these days. If you average 40+ over the last two years, you can be considered a batsman.

Agreed the allrounders ratings are flawed.....but Vettori definately deserves to be in that category these days - unlike Jayasuria

Given the paucity of all-rounders in tests nowadays, if the ICC (I preferred the old PWC site, BTW) published, say, a top 20 instead of a top 5 I wonder who'd show up? Warney possibly? Ash Giles? Brett Lee? Maybe batters like Katich or Smith too.

Hey are u kidding, What has Irfan done, apart from the tests against Bangladesh and Zimbabwe, his bowling average is almost 46-47.
He definitely does not deserve a place in the top 10.

I definitely havent devised the rankings!
May be you should have done that. Never mind. I was just referring to the flawed system
ICC follows for Players ranking. Irfan Pathan, if you exclude the Zimbabwe and bangladesh
series, is averaging in the high 40s and i really feel he does not deserve a place in the Indian Test team
let alone the ICC top 10

I agree, it's an absolute farce.

How McGrath is ahead of Warne I cant figure out!

The guy just took 30+ wickets against the 2nd placed side on an away tour!

McGrath's been comfortably the best bowler in the world since his return from injury, and has held a stranglehold on top spot. His average since he came back against Sri Lanka in mid 2004 is under 20, and against good opposition for the most part as well. Warne's made the move from outside the top 5 to second on the back of his Ashes series and a good Super Test.

MCgrath had injuries throughout the tour of England hence the reason he wasnt as effective as he usually is.

Youre basing all your thoughts of a good bowler on his overall average. We are talking about now not through out his entire career. And he does keep the runs down which makes him a pretty decent bowler. Hes also taken a few wickets lately but not like that of Warne
