There was some news about Munaf derailing rawalpindi express on TOI, but thats besides the point. The fact is that India actually found an express fast bowler seems very exciting to me. The news about his injury is very unfortunate though, if he's able to recover from his injury and performs well at domestic level then he should be given a test cap.
I remember that article. It was just a fluff piece. The TOI online version is nothing more than a tabloid. Don't take it seriously.

I honestly think VRV Singh has more potential than him. Not sure about his bowling, but he scores a lot of runs for a supposed tailender. He even won a one day game for his side with the bat.
VR Singh's batting is no great shakes. Very much like Harmison, he just throws the bat at everything, without a concern for technique. Good to have as a slogger at 10/11, but nothing more. Irfan and Bangar are a lot better, technically. His bowling, however, is a point of interest- he may not be as fast as Shoaib Akhtar, but he's an extremely aggressive bowler, whom you have to watch to find out.

I think even the printed version is nothing better.
A lot of Indiatimes' artices are utter rubbish- one of them was a 20-slide presentation saying that Rahul Dravid is a liability on the ODI side!

They have put up a new slideshow on the weaknesses in the Lankan team that the Indians should exploit, adn for a change, that makes sense.

some players who should be tried out in the ongoing series v sri lanka and south africa,

1. vrv singh - has looked impressive with both bat and ball in the challenger trophy and even the duleep trophy. picked with wickets at regular intervals bowling with a lot of pace and bounce. he was good enough in cleaning the tail before chipping in with a useful contribution with the bat. he, took 4 wickets in the 1st inngs and made 93 runs(at near-a-run-a-ball) in the recently concluded duleep trophy match.

2. vvs laxman - he has always been left out unfairly with the only reason being that the team did not do well. he has, played a lot of useful match-winning odi innings and also has improved his fielding and runnings between the wickets. also, all his odi 100s at have come at over 85 strike-rate.

3. gautam gambhir(hes already in the squad) - he must be given a go in the 1st xi. he, has batted well in tests and also for india"a" in one-dayers and looks to have more shots than sehwag and has even outscored sehwag a 1 or 2 times in tests when both of them have batted together. gambhir, looks to be suited to odis as well along with tests.

4. s sree sanath(hes already in the squad) - was the man of the series in the challenger trophy and should have picked more wickets than what he actually got. he has bowled with a lot of pace and aggression. for those who dont remember, when munaf patel, came up suddenly in 2003, there were 2 other players who were also said of being express pacers, with rp singh and s sree santh being the 2 "others". all 3 of munaf, rp singh and sree santh made their fc debuts together for india"a" in the warm-up match v nz where sree santh looked to be the best of the 3 bowlers with munaf not doing anything great except for the 2 wickets in the 1st innings and his amazing dismissal of astle. sree santh, is known to bowl at over 145+ kph.

I didn't knew Sri Santh use to bowl so fast, if he can consolidate his place in Indian test team then India would have a pace attack for all season.Champion swing bowler in IKP from one end and express pacer in Santh from another end!

The name "Sri Santh" sounds so much similar to that so good India bowler of '90's SriNath.

Srinath was a class bowler and the pair of Srinath and Prasad use to be quite effective.
