Dippenaar??!?!

I agree that he probably should be in the test side for Worst XI, but as far as I can tell, this is a one day side. Dippenaar is a quality one day batsman who averages around 40.

Bit harsh on Banks as well. If he was given a proper go by selectors he'd be a good player. Hes also a better batsman than Pathan and Sami.

Some of you are being a bit harsh on Lou Vincent.

He made a double century against Sri Lanka earlier this year.

Chris Martin I agree with though, he is woeful.
Everyone that has picked Vincent picked him opening the batting, in which case I agree with them.

He is horrible opener, especially in one day cricket, so he deserves his place at the top of the order in this side, considering the fact that he often gets picked there for NZ.

I think Vaughan definetely deserves a spot, although he is a decent captain.

I thought Pathan was unlucky not to make the ODI side. He is a pretty decent bowler and Im surprised you had him in there.

Vincent should not even be opening in ODI cricket, he's a straight out middle order batsmen but the selectors continue to blight his career.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
Vincent, great one day fielder. Good aggressive batsman not suited to the top order in one dayers. IMHO. A lot of scores in the 30's yes but 30's would come in handy late in the order if NZ needed it rather than poking around in the top 4..
Maybe should work on some bit bowling to slow down scoring and add variety. Bat at number 5 or 6.

Tests he should be at number 3 or 4. He's consistent there and he could become a real big score player for NZ in that position. Or he could become Matthew Sinclair.
He hasn't actually come in at 5, so if the selectors insist on throwing him around the order, maybe he should try coming in then, with an NZ batting order of:
1. S Fleming
2. (Opener. J Marshall, Cumming, How or McCullum (could be v. good in this role)).
3. H Marshall
4. Styris
5. Vincent
6. Astle/Oram
(7. McCullum/Vettori/Oram)
Only time I've seen him look comfortable opening was v Australia on his debut, of all things, when they didn't really know who he was or how to get him out.
I thought he played well against Warne in that game.

Sorry for hijacking this thread, but I'm a big fan of Vincent.

Just to be mean, throw M Sinclair into the XI instead of Vincent for opening :P

Papps will definately be opening the test matches for NZ when they play the West Indies. He's been rattling off a large number of runs recently for NZ 'A' & The NZ Academy.

James Marshall doesn't look convincing to me and I think Cumming will be holding the other spot until the selectors feel How or Ryder are up to the task.

Maybe as a specialist bowler, but as a batsman hes turning into quite a decent player.

Plus, Zimbabweans were banned.... by yourself in fact...
oops, still a bit sleepy, I guess. Thanks for pointing that out. I have replaced him with the great Ronnie Irani.

Lol he has played 1 ODI. Good luck judging his ability on that.

I didn't think he was that special. If he proves me wrong, then great. It means NZ will have another good spinner that complements Vettori and it will be good news for World Cricket as well, to have a strengthened NZ side. I don't think he is anything special from the way he bowled in that game, simply because he didn't really seem to have much of a variation.

He will never play tests.. Just a good One Day bowler. Keeps it tight and can bowl at the death.

Im not convinced about Patel either...his FC & OD stats are average to say the least.

I don't know why they're not taking a better look at Bruce Martin who does have good stats.
