Vincent, great one day fielder. Good aggressive batsman not suited to the top order in one dayers. IMHO. A lot of scores in the 30's yes but 30's would come in handy late in the order if NZ needed it rather than poking around in the top 4..
Maybe should work on some bit bowling to slow down scoring and add variety. Bat at number 5 or 6.
Tests he should be at number 3 or 4. He's consistent there and he could become a real big score player for NZ in that position. Or he could become Matthew Sinclair.
He hasn't actually come in at 5, so if the selectors insist on throwing him around the order, maybe he should try coming in then, with an NZ batting order of:
1. S Fleming
2. (Opener. J Marshall, Cumming, How or McCullum (could be v. good in this role)).
3. H Marshall
4. Styris
5. Vincent
6. Astle/Oram
(7. McCullum/Vettori/Oram)
Only time I've seen him look comfortable opening was v Australia on his debut, of all things, when they didn't really know who he was or how to get him out.
I thought he played well against Warne in that game.
Sorry for hijacking this thread, but I'm a big fan of Vincent.
Just to be mean, throw M Sinclair into the XI instead of Vincent for opening :P
