I think what turned the game back to England's favour was Warne's drop of Pieterson's. If that had been caught it there would have been backbreaking momentum in favour of the Aussies. Regardless of his drop, Warne is a legend, you can't say anything less.

word, same thing people were saying about tait after his dismall performances for Durham in CC last year & he came on well.....

The expression was just a means of expressing "quicker than the two of them" - for the record, if I faced either Harmy or Lee, I'd certainly be asking "what the hell was that"!

    Well, he came on.

At times he did look ordinary, and at times he bowled very well.

Certainly was criminally underbowled on Monday though.

I certainly don't think it looks like Ponting rates him very highly. He doesn't seem to trust him not to haemorrhage runs - he only uses him when he's tried the other three for ages and not got a wicket, or in the first innings when the game is still up in the air.

He can't improve if he doesn't bowl, though - and if Ponting's never going to use him in the second innings, they'd be better off just picking someone else, even if it's Gillespie.

his record from 2001 is a lot better, and it would have helped if he didnt break down after every few games.

naaaaaaa the only reason he was undebowled so much on the last day is because of what was at stake a Punters would have been always looking at Pigeon & Warne mainly plus lee to get most of the wickets....

Maybe so, I was simply making the point that you can't write someone off when they average over 30 after half a dozen first class games at the start of their career.

Tait, as we've seen is certainly Lee pace and maybe capable of being even quicker. I would say at a guess that Johnson is more in the Harmison spectrum, but it's quite hard to say, and he's a bit injury prone so might slow down anyway.

I wouldn't say he's much like Tait really, he's more like a young left-arm Lee, except he is probably a bit slower and has better height (in terms of release point) because of his big jump and action. His problem is definately accuracy right now anyway. Once he starts playing regularly for Queensland we'll get a better idea of how good he is.
If Johnson stops getting injured then he will start getting a game (then again this state has a reputation of being the one place not to be if your a fast bowler and wanting a regular game).

Seriously I'm starting to wonder if Nnanden is in love with Nathan Bracken?

3 specialists, Hussey, Watson, Symonds and Clarke - Symonds and Watson would usually bowl a fair few overs.

20 overs from part-timers is at least 10 too many (and in all honesty none of those are front-line bowlers at the highest level)

With that batting it's easy to play an extra bowler in place of Katich (who coming in at 8 is probably a sillier option that what they've been doing to Watson)
