Top ten greatest bowlers and batsmen of all time

Son Of Coco

Cricket Web: All-Time Legend
have heard it said before by australian chums who are long in the tooth that he was better than mcgrath. apparently a wider variety of skills allied to appreciably greater pace.
I'm not sure letting women handle his bouncers should go into his list of 'skills'.

It's really hard just to mention just the top 10 from each disipline and really difficult and possibly even unfair) to compare spinners to fast bowlers and openers to middle order batsmen. But there is a couple of players who have separated themselves from the pack. The truely elite from each disipline. The short list.
Openers
Jack Hobbs, Len Hutton, Sunil Gavaskar, Herbert Sutcliffe, Barry Richards.
Middle Order
Donald Bradman, Garfield Sobers, Vivian Richards, Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara, Walter Hammond, George Headley, Greg Chappell, Graeme Pollock.
Spin
Shane Warne, William O'Riley, Muttiah Muralitharan
Fast
Malcolm Marshall, Sydney Barnes, Denis Lillee, Fred Trueman, Glenn Mcgrath, Curtly Ambrose, Imran Khan, Wasim Akram, Richard Hadlee.
Keepers
Adam Gilchrist, Alan Knott, Les Ames
All-Rounders
Garfield Sobers, Jacques Kallis, Keith Miller, Ian Botham, Adam Gilchrist, Imran Khan, Aubrey Faulkner, Kumar Sangakkkara.

From that elite list the players who would have just missed out would have been
Just Missed
Ray Lindwall, Michael Holding, Allan Donald, Joel Garner, Dale Steyn, Harold Larwood, Clarrie Grimmett, Anil Kumble, Jim Laker, Javed Miandad, Allan Border, Everton Weekes, Ricky Ponting, Clyde Walcott, Victor Trumper, Rahul Dravid, Ken Barrington, Frank Worrell, Shaun Pollock, Kapil Dev, Ian Healy.

Because I am beginning to trust the plaers who played againts him. He may not have always got them out, but they say he was the hardest to face. I prefered Donald or Holding but most who played againts both Donald and Akran, all rated Wasim higher, have to respect that, and Holding just didnt play long enough. Lindwall was right there too, just didnt make the final cut.

Of course, a lot of the rating of the players are based on the stuff that is written as I have not seen many of these guys in action live during my time of watching cricket.

Anyway I never bother with this sort of thing so working on the basis this is all cricket and not just test, and almost entirely based on what I've read:

Batsmen

Bradman
Grace
Hobbs
Tendulkar
Sobers
Richards
Hammond
Ranji
Lara
Headley

It is obviously pointless to attempt to say who is better (well after Bradman) so tried to take wider impact and influence into account.

Bowlers

Barnes
Marshall
Warne
Murali
Ambrose
McGrath
O'Reilly
Trueman
Hadlee
Imran

Not sure how I left Lillee out, him Waqar, Steyn and Larwood come next. This one a little more based on what I've actually seen, lucky enough to see some of these at their best live.

While I strongly agree with this list, Hadlee's ODI economy rate of 3.3 and his average in the low 20's ough to find him a spot.
