All time Australia XI vs all time England XI

MARSHALLED

Cricket Spectator
I have come up with an all time Australia XI to face an all time England XI. What do you think of it and how do you think I could improve my sides.

Australia:

Victor Trumper
Bill Ponsford
Don Bradman
Greg Chapell
Steve Waugh (cpt)
Keith Miller
Adam Gilchrist (wkt)
Ray Lindwall
Shane Warne
Dennis Lillie
Glenn Mcgrath

12TH MAN: Alan Border

England:

Jack Hobbs
Len Hutton
Wally Hammond
Dennis Compton
WG Grace (cpt)
Ian Botham
Alan Knott (wkt)
Alec Bedser
Jim Laker
Fred Trueman
Sydney Barnes

12TH MAN: Harold Larwood
It will be very close I would tip Australia to win in a five match series.

I think you are right Bradamn should just give Australia the advantage.

In the England side you have no lefties at all. Woolley or Gower come to mind. Woolley would add to the spin bowling with Laker. England have always favoured a left handed off spinner against the Aussies.

Who would you leave out though?

Both teams bat deep.

There are three top grade fast bowlers and two spinners in Australia and England have two pure fast bowlers, one off spinner, one left arm spinner, a useful medium pacer in Hammond AND arguably the greatest bowler of all times, the incomparable Barnes

Australian spinners are both leg spinners. Cant help it. At least Orielly is not a conventional leg spinner and was more in the fastish/Kumble mould. England have much more variety

Australia are always favourites once they have Bradman but in this case England have Barnes !!
