Battle of the Cricketers

Hello, and welcome to my ripoff of 3 Off Topic Threads!

Vic Orthdox's Battle of the Bands, Hoggy31's Battle of the TV Shows and Pratyush's Battle of the CW Members.

So I, Jamee999 proudly present:

Battle of the Cricketers!

There will be 64 cricketers.

54 selected by me (because I run the game)

And 10 extra ones.

You may nominate one player and second two.

A player must be nomiantated and seconded to be in the game.

You may NOT nominate and second the same player

There will be 2 days to nominate and second in.

This period will close at 8pm on Sunday 14th August 2005.

Here are the rules for the Battles:

1. You are voting on who is the better player. Please do not pick someone because he is your favourite.

2. The battles will be run on a first to 10 system. The first player to pick up 10 votes will win. If after 24 hours neither has 10 votes the leader will win. If they are level I will extend voting for 2 hours, anyone who has not yet voted will then decide the winner, the first person to vote in the 2 hours is the tie breaker.

3. If there is no voter in the 2 hours, I decide the winner :)

Here are the 54 players.

Oh yeah, something else, some one else must have nominated them for you to second them.

Sorry about forgetting that.

honestbharani

Whatever it takes!!!
I was wondering that, given the meaning of the word 'second' but since nothing was mentioned I simply went ahead. Sorry. :)

If you're feeling generous bharani, can you edit your post for me, I'll no doubt get confused and waste sometime trying to work out who people have nominated and stuff :)

Bradman will win. Why not exclude him?
Does anybody else agree with this?

I am so-so to the idea, if we get enough against it he will be eliminated. And replaced by one of the nominated and seconded players.

Assuming they are on opposite sides of the draw, the final will almost certainly be Bradman v Sobers, so I don't see the point really.

I second the nomination of the almighty cobbling tiger.

That's not so clear (IMO)

If you asked Greatest Ever? I'd say Bradman.

If you asked 2nd Greatest Ever? I woudn't be so quick on the trigger.

Meh, you'd be surprised how many people would put Sobers ahead of Bradman if you asked a simple 'who is the best cricketer ever?'. Might be worth including both anyway, I'm sure there'll be some interesting results.

Yeah, and if those two get into the final we'll do the 3rd place playoff :)

So that's the 54 and S Chanderpaul ATM.

I nominate ponting. Seems stupid that batsman such as hayden and the like are named and ponting isnt despite being one of the worlds top three batsman for the last 3 years

Bradman and Sobers should be excluded IMO, they are clearly no 1 and 2 in 95% peoples eyes (big assumption i know).

I predict Viv or Imran Khan to win.
