Fair enough about Hadlee. But my comment was about Lillee too, and, from memory, he didn't play there too often. As for the others you list, you'll get no argument from me.C_C said:?????
Hadlee in Asia : 13 matches. 68 wickets @ 21.58, 42.7 st/r , 5x5fers, 2x10fers
McGrath in Asia: 19 matches, 72 wickets @ 23.02, 54.8 st/r, 1x5fer
Marshall in Asia: 19 matches, 71 wickets @ 23.05, 48.7 st/r, 3x5fer
Ambrose in Asia: 6 matches, 18 wickets @ 22.50, 56.3 st/r, 1x5fer
Imran Khan in Asia: 51 matches, 205 wickets @ 20.28, 48.8 st/r, 12x5fer, 3x10fer
The best of the very best have got it done in Asia, mate....McGrath isnt the only one.
Interestingly, Hadlee's figures contain 4 games in SL, where he picked up the not insignificant 27 wickets @ 12.29, somewhat boosting his figures.C_C said:?????

Sorry, but did Hadlee actually have any other bowlers with him when he played? Will Scarlet said:How can anyone realistically say that McGrath is better that Hadlee or Lillee when he averages just over four wickets a test while they averaged over five.
Indeed. It's Lillee's wpm ratio which is most impressive, given he bowled with quality bowlers like Thomson, Gilmour, Pascoe, Walker, Mallett etc.marc71178 said:Sorry, but did Hadlee actually have any other bowlers with him when he played?
It stands to reason he'd take more per game.
dont forget he is extremely accurate, and what made you come to conclusion that he doesn't have the brain of Akram and that fear has anything to do with him being a successful bowler.Jason_M said:All McGrath does is bowl a tedious line and given his height is able to extract bounce from a good length, he doesn't have the brain of Akram or the fear of Ambrose.
Actually, McGrath's average is down to 21.05 now, and has fallen the best part of a run since he returned to international cricket a year ago. He's now close to overtaking Marshall, Garner and Ambrose, who are all between 20.98 and 20.99. That will leave only Frank Tyson and Alan Davidson since World War 2 with better bowling averages.honestbharani said:It is funny how McGrath and Marshall have identical stats in Asia.
