The Australian and New Zealand Cricket Boards have confirmed they are sending second-string sides to Pakistan in September and October to take part in a triangular one-day tournament and play unofficial Tests against Pakistan A.

Pakistan Cricket Board officials said a schedule has been agreed as they bid to provide a tough test for their fringe players in order to assess the depth of talent in the country.

"This means now that the Pakistan A team will have an extremely busy schedule from June onwards, while earlier this year they have also completed a successful tour of Sri Lanka and are presently touring Namibia and Zimbabwe," an official statement said.

"It's a very positive step forward that in 2005 we've been able to schedule five events for the Pakistan A side - something that has never happened before in Pakistan cricket."

The West Indies will also send an A team to play two four-day unofficial Tests and three one-day games in June-July followed by the Australia A side coming in September.

"The Australians will play two four-day Tests before New Zealand come for a six-match triangular one-day series after which the Australians will leave for home," the statement continued.

"After the triangular series the New Zealand team will remain in Pakistan to play two or three unofficial Tests."

Can only develop the countries and make them stronger. It'd be good if a minnow was involved at some stage, though.
