I can think of one pretty good reason why not for Hansie..... :D

Just to clarify, do you mean players who could still turn out in their current physical state as of 16/4/05?

:p My bad. RIP.

And yeah, players who are definitely retired but can still play current physical condition permitting. Thats one way of ensuring the New Zealanders dont go for Hadlee instaed of Dion Nash :D.

<quack> Hansie could - if the bowlers' footmarks were slippery and they'd run out of sawdust.

DD, that's possibly the worst thing you've ever said on CW....

<quack> I really, really apologise

... and just possibly the funniest

These are twelve. Take your pick for twelfth man.

I would have put Symcox for variety but then I thought would I pick him in his heydays ? and I got my answer :p

Trying to do an “England” XI. I haven’t included Hick, Caddy, Ealham, Mullally, White or De Freitas ‘cos I don’t think any of them has ever actually withdrawn their international services. They just stopped getting picked!

Seamers are hard, ‘cos they often go on until their bodies give up on them. Peter Martin & Dean Headley are ruled out on this basis & Gus Fraser’s current waistline counted against him! Anyway:

Atherton
James (Steve, ex-Glamorgan)
Knight
*Hussain
Stewart
Hollioake
+Russell
Lewis
Croft

Smith (Mike, ex-Gloucestershire)
Giddins
