Icon7 Greatest Ever One Day XI

Was watching this old program Cricket 2000 or someting like that and decided to start up a CW version of their team. It was from 1975 until 2000.

    The team was:
    Adam Gilchrist (wk)
    Sachin Tendulkar
    Viv Richards
    Dean Jones
    Greg Chappell (C)
    Clive Lloyd
    Imran Khan
    Richard Hadlee
    Shane Warne
    Wasim Akram
    Joel Garner

NB. This is just a rough idea of the team selected.Batting order may not exactly be correct. When you're deciding you XI please note that the eligibilty years are 1975 to present. Therefore Bradman is not a choice. Also, the logis is 5 batsmen, 2 all rounders, 1 wicketkeeper/batsman(not just wicketkeeper), 1 spinner and 2 fast bowlers.

Best ODI side from 1975 then:

    OK, I'll select

    Tendulkar
    Gilchrist (wk)
    Ponting
    Richards
    Lloyd (c)
    Bevan
    Imran Khan
    Hadlee
    Garner
    McGrath
    Muralitharan.

    Tendulkar
    +Gilchrist
    Ponting*
    Richards
    Lara
    Bevan
    Klusener
    W Akram
    B Lee
    S Mushtaq
    McGrath

3 specialist bowlers and 2 all rounders, but with Lee and Saqulain and 9 and 10 the batting goes almost all the way down. would move bevan down to 9 if setting a total as everyone else sscores very fast

Any all-time ODI side would have to have Bevan at three or four.

    well not mine

seriously he takes more time to get started than playerws like Ponting, Lara or Richards and doesn't have the ability to really get after the bowlers and hit boundaries or 6's at the same rate as them.

sorry in an alltime team, Richards OWNS the #3 spot and i will have to play lara at #4. Period.
I am surprised very few mentioned Akram,Garner or Younis...they were three of the best ODI bowlers.

    my alltime XI:

    Tendulkar
    Gillchrist(wk)
    Richards
    Lara
    Bevan
    Rhodes
    Shaun Pollock
    Wasim Akram
    Joel Garner
    Muttiah Muralitharan
    Glenn McGrath

I believe this is the perfect fit for an ODI......reason i picked Pollock over klusenser is because i am going with 5 bona-fide bowlers and Klusener's bowling on an alltime scale is nothing hoo-haa....plus Pollock can score at a good clip slogging away...
Rhodes over Kallis since i cant find a position for Kallis up the order and Kallis is a notoriously slow starter.....cant have a #6 do that and Rhodes is good at pinching the single/smashing the ball around plus he makes up for it with 15-20 runs saved per match with his fielding.

    8.Hadlee
    9.Akram
    10.Warne
11.Garner/McGrath (Its a tough one here)
