Out of the 1232 balls when he hasn't been in control, he has been dismissed only 54 times

in all seriousness, it would be interesting to see what figures Richard has for Dravid with the first chance average thing....

maybe Dravid just does the right things to ensure the ball doesnt pop out to slips etc, even when he isnt in control...

Yeah, I think some players are "not in control" a lot of the time without giving chances. Justin Langer is one that springs to mind. He doesn't get dropped or anything all that often, but he does he rapped on the pad or play and miss or edge along the ground to the slips a lot, especially early in his innings. Ponting too.

soft hands, its all it takes to keep the balls from carrying to slip and any close in fielder.

The figures seem logical to me, you'd expect the crease occupiers who don't score too quickly and don't throw their wickets away to be 'luckier' on that list (I don't think it's luck really). Most of the guys on the 'unlucky' list commit to their shots more, so obviously they're more likely to get out when they're committed to shots, as opposed to those who'd play the same sort of delivery with soft hands.

The thing that interested me was the In control percentage.

Some of the names that are more in control than Dravid are a tad strange.
marc71178 - President and founding member of AAAS - we don't only appreciate when he does well, but also when he's not quite so good!
