Looks like a pretty impressive FC record and he also played a Test when 17 or 18. I'm curious as to why he hasn't played any more international cricket. He just wrecked England A too.

The Cricinfo description that he looked 'all at sea' is a bit harsh considering his age. Warnie looked all at sea in his first Test and he was 4 years older. So can anyone provide an explanation for why we haven't seen more of him?

Because sometimes selectors make poor decisions.
You could ask exactly the same thing about Martin Bicknell over here.
And I'm sure there must be one or two from your country.

Surely you mean the poor decision with Bicknell was not picking him for so long?

This pretty much explains it:

The main reason why he was forgetten was the fact that the selectors sure him as an all rounder not just a spin bowler, until recently his batting hasn't really developed. Also after he was dropped Upul Chanada got a run in the test side, he never really did much with the bowl until recently, but his batting kept him infront of guys like Bandara. They have always been looking for a all rounder to go with Murali more then just a bowler. The search for an all rounder is the main reason why he was forgetten.

It was a mistake to bring Bandara in to the test arena so early. He admitted himself that he lacked the experience to play at test level at that time. but he didn't do much in the last 7 years except maybe in 2004. But yeah, he's got skill. It's up to the selectors to use him properly.

And I guess Liam can use the example of a local spinner (forget his name) with an execellent FC level but never playing a Test for the WI.
