If Rana is fit again, I'd have him in there in place of Razzaq -- Razzaq' may be useful in the ODi's but more often than not he's going to disappoint in test match cricket.
In any case, you're not going to win many tests with just 3 specialist bowlers.

Arshad in place of Khalil is also correct -- Khalil's bowling looks pretty benign.
thats a fact that 3 specialist bowlers rnt winning any matches well not really, its a fact the the 3 specialists pak istan have rnt winning any matches, maybe if they were the likes of waqar, saplain etc etc they could...but rana is not a test quality player...im sorry to say his batting is better then his bowling and razzaq bowling and batting is better then ranas

Well, a great win for India, but I must say it's the usual, foolish Pakistani batting line-up that gave away the match. Few of those were the "wicket-taking" deliveries, others being the ordinary ones( eg: Afridi and Younis getting out on the balls that deserved a four)
cricket is a game of luck, a delivery that gets a wicket on any other day would b dispatched...if i was a player i wouldnt take it to heart at the moment pakistan r on a learning curve and as long as they come back a stronger team then its gud. give them time...india r the strongest they have been for years and we...weakest...im sorry to say.

I still couldnt understand why Khalil was playing, pak knew this pitch turns/lays low and arshad khan would have been handy.

Now, he will get picked for bangalore

Inzamam has a bigger head, but no brain in it.

Razzaq is so overrated its not even funny....ok his big hitting may have some use at ODI level but he's a crap test match bowler and at best, an unreliable test match batsman.

He played brilliantly in the 1st test, but I was shocked to see his attitude today. He was looking very lazy whereas others were concentrating hard

well no not really...at test level his bowling stats rnt all that as he has bowled with the likes of wasim and waqar, shoaib etc...therefore hasnt been the main wicket taker...batting is realiable...to b honest i think ur being a tad harsh...

That's precisely my point. The guy is too inconsistent with his batting and I don't see anything in his bowling that's particularly threatening to the Indian batting lineup.

This is what I hope for the next test.
Shahid Afridi
Yasir Hameed
Younis Khan
Inzamam Ul Haq
Yousuf Youhana
Asim Kamal
Abdul Razzaq
Kamran Akmal
Mohammad Sami
Danish Kaneria
Arshad Khan

Taufeeq Umer and Mohammad Khalil need a rest, and I think Yasir Hameed is the better choice than Salman Butt and Taufeeq Umer, but I'm ready to stand some poor selection from PCB.

And with India, the only change I can think of is dropping Laxman and playing either Yuvraj Singh or Mohammad Kaif. The guy can't play a ball, gets hit with a bouncer, comes back, knowing he can be hit again but manages a decent knock but doesn't field???Obviously, it did good to the Indian side since they had Kaif on the field.

What an amazing test match. There were around 3-4 turning points, with each team taking the advantage and then the other team fighting back. Brilliant.

Well done Kumble and Dravid. GO India

India is marooned. But NO HELP is needed!
It is a special moment. The words don’t come out of the mouth. The hands fumble when trying to type a few words. The lexicon seems short on repertoire when this happens. What are we talking about? What makes us getting goose bumps all over the body? Has anyone conquered the space a la Gagarin to be etched in the history for ever? Nope. Has anyone used the apple tree to invent something to send shock waves across the stratosphere? Nope. Then what the hell is that damn good to make so many people jump with joy? Is it a game? Yes. Afterall if it is just a game of cricket why someone should get this excited by a win when we know that we have to treat the two imposters (Win or defeat) as the same as suggested by Kipling.

Welcome to the world of cricket where India and Pakistan play a test match at Eden Gardens, Kolkata which is not Megiddo by any means but if pulse rates are measured from the bodies of the fans of India and Pakistan they might second that. Ah! Do they christen it as the mother of all battles? They may be right.

Let me cut to the chase. Pakistan entered the final day in the hope of atleast drawing the game if not winning it. Their hopes got a rude jolt when Younis Khan was packed off in the first ball of the game thanks to a brilliant leg stump stumping by Karthik off the never-say-die Anil Kumble. Inzamam needed the presence of elixir in his body since he was in life supporting system throughout his innings caused by the trauma of his nemesis Anil Kumble. It won’t be an insult to call the Pakistani skipper as Kumble’s bunny now. He wasn’t sure whether bat was his main weapon or pad and in the process he looked in no man’s land. A very lame effort by the skipper on an important day.

Asim Kamal is steely eyed and he belongs to the Moxie generation while the rest of the Pakistani batsmen belong to the Coca-Cola generation in terms of test match application and grit. He fought gamely when the going was tough against two top spinners and the brilliant Balaji. Alas he lacked the support from the others.

The way Youhana batted reminded of someone who was begging for Euthanasia since he didn’t have any panacea for his illness which was in his mind in the form “I want to attack but the situation doesn’t allow me to do so and what can I do now”. Finally his last rites were performed by Kumble and then it was left to the Mohali heroes (Akmal and Razzak) to save the test.

But Anil Kumble was in no mood to give in. He might not have the ballistic missile or Scud of Afridi but he has his own Tomahawk missile which was not stolen from the Americans for sure!! Razzak had no clue to that thunderbolt and it was curtains for Pakistan.

When Kaneria was cleaned up to hand over India a comprehensive victory the Indians were on cloud nine for sure.

Where did Pakistan go wrong? They will be the first to admit that they were beaten by a side which had more ammunition and variety in both the departments of the game. Their Mohali heroics have raised the hopes of a nation which is so proud of its cricketing tradition and performance. Inzamam has a young side which has exceeded lots of expectations to stretch India this far by playing some gritty and back to the wall cricket. They lack genuine talent in batting and bowling to win against quality test sides. Inzamam is not an Imran Khan to convert a Younis Khan into a Salim Malik or a Sami into a Sikander Bakth. They should have bowled better on the first day which gave India the huge advantage. They should have shown more resilience on day 3 when Indian triggered that sensational collapse. The top order batsmen like Inzamam and Youhana should have come to the wicket on the last day having a clear mind. Alas they had lost the battle in their minds which was exploited by the Indian bowlers.

It will be hurting for Pakistani fans since their favorite pastime in the 80s and 90s was to beat India in cricket for fun. The world won’t cave in when you lost a test against India. No one has died (we used to tell this to ourselves whenever we lose to Pakistan) and life has to go on. But this side can’t be compared to those sides. Everything in life goes through phases and this is India’s turn to win a few tests against Pakistan. Younis, Youhana and Afridi gave something to cheer for the Pakistani fans.

For India Rahul Dravid and Anil Kumble were the star performers. Dinesh Karthik also played an important role on the fourth day which should not be forgotten. Saurav Ganguly’s captaincy oscillated between brilliance and naivete.

Pakistan needs to regroup for Bangalore. Inzamam is playing his 100th test and that venue has got a special place in the Pakistani cricketing folklore and it is upto the current team to try to match those heady days. Khalil might get the axe there. They need to play above their potential to beat India to square the series. But nothing can be ruled out since Pakistan is a country which is famous for his bravery and bull dog spirit. The time has come for Kaneria to transform himself from the world of “Potential match winner” to a “match winner” at Bangalore. They need him to fire big time.

--BRS(Jubilant is a mild term….One of those days when you want to go to every part of India and shout from every rooftop “This is my India. I love my India”)

Marc,

Razzaq and Khalil are perfectly interchangeable; hell I'd prefer Razzaq over Khalil. They need to get another specialist spinner in the line-up and Razzaq owing to his batting abilities sadly cannot be the scapegoat.

I do have my doubts about the Test in Bangalore. The Indian team has a terrible record there, since the climate is very similar to places outside India, usually England or Australia. If the pitch offers more than a little bounce, it can be worrying. That said, there's no real quality in the Pakistani pace attack ot exploit these, save the erratic Sami.
