Bryce,

I would disagree with you about Cairns hitting more 6s with timing than power. Most of Cairns' big shots are just brute power.

Ofcourse every one would disagree with bryce.

With out timing you wont be able to hit sixes easily.A good example is baseball you have to have the power in order to carry the ball for a home run that is the reason most of the players use steriods.

Timing is the main factor, power is the second main factor, postitioning is the third main factor, in order to hit the ball for a six,End of this discussion

just a couple of quick notes on the timing v power debate...........

a batsman who is better able to time the ball will usually be more consistantly successful than one who relys primarily on power...............

Bevan was not a big hitter or power player, yet in ODIs he was amongst the best both in terms of averages, strike rates & consistant performances............

a power player like Afridi & Co will be spectacular on their day like a blazing comet, but will also have the same consistency..............

Ofcourse a guy who times the bowl will make alot of runs a example of it is bevan but what we were talking about is hitting sixes does also reguires timing rather just brute force.

Flintoff certainly times his pull shot to near perfection.
Except those that he get out to or nearly gets out to.

well i disagree with that, you can't hit a six with just brute power - it needs at least some element of timing

Absolutely. You can not hit a massive shot without timing. The fact that it is also hit with power may make it go further. But if it was only power, it may not go very far.

Hoping to go to the game on Thursday, just trying to get one of my friends to join me since I don't want to go alone. It costs less than a normal ODI, doesn't it?
