No, no - I mean the standard of cricket is likely to be seriously close to the standard of county cricket!
They would be comparable to county cricket atleat though wont be any thing greater.

Im seriously starting to get sick of the ongoing debate on whether these matches should be test matches.

Does it really matter all that much what the status of the match is? Get over it!

Only about 20% of the discussion here is actually related to game in question.

Anyway...

First off, I would like to point out that Edward Rainsford is not in the squad, so you cant pick him....

Im pretty sure that Chigumbura will be playing. He has played very well in various one day games, and as much as I HATE the idea of picking a player in one form based on his performances in another, Im pretty sure the Zimbabwean selectors dont share my view.

On Sibanda, I was under the impression that he wasnt picked to go on tour..and not only is he on tour, he just picked up a hundred in a tour match.

And not only is that hundred Matsikenyeri's first FC hundred on alien soil, it is in fact his first FC hundred anywhere, and the same goes for Sibanda.

Predicted Zimbabwe Lineup:

1. Stuart MATSIKENYERI
2. Dion EBRAHIM
3. Mark VERMEULEN
4. Vusi SIBANDA
5. Hamilton MASAKADZA
6. Tatenda TAIBU
7. Elton CHIGUMBURA
8. Mluleki NKALA
9. Prosper UTSEYA
10. Tinashe PANYANGARA
11. Douglas HONDO

My Zimbabwe Lineup:

1. Brendan TAYLOR
2. Dion EBRAHIM
3. Hamilton MASAKADZA
4. Mark VERMEULEN
5. Barney ROGERS
6. Stuart MATSIKENYERI
7. Tatenda TAIBU
8. Alester CREMER
9. Tinashe PANYANGARA
10. Douglas HONDO
11. Christopher MPOFU

It just saddens us to see test cricket (the creme de la creme) being so weakened by these two teams..

Well start a thread about it and argue in there.

This thread is about the series and the games themselves, not the status of them.

We can argue it where we like.. It is obviously relevant to the series, and I don't see it as against any forum rules..

Your completely in your right to argue about it here, but I really think it has been WAY overdone in a million other threads.

I really think you should all just get over it! You seem too worried about records and averages.

And now its worse arguing what is relevent and irrelevent on this thread itself.

Create a thread to ask if its relevent or not :D

We shouldnt get over it by the way. We feel test cricket is one where only the best should be allowed to play. The current Zimbabwe and Bangladesh squads are clearly not in that league.

Not so mate, more like annoyance at a test series between what is essentially a "Zanu PF XI" and a team which were elevated on the back of one dodgy world cup win

And you flooding a tour thread with a view doesnt make it right either.
Erm I wasnt the one who started about the quality of the matches. But you cannot make rules of what comprises a thread and what doesnt.

The Srilanka tour of NZL was flooded with the Tsunami tragedy and quite aptly.

If you want to shift the topic, start speaking about the team selections etc in place of sulking.

If you read my original post, it dealt quite heavily with team selections.
But if you hadnt slked about what was being discussed, people would have actually shifted attention to team selection etc.

All aspects of a tour may be discussed in a thread. You cant really control what will be discussed. If the cricket isnt as exciting, even the commentators start discussing these things on t.v. even while the actual cricket is going on.

I think ZIM should be chucked out of test cricket. They simply will never have potential to become a powerhouse. They don't have the structures. They are a shambles. Even in their prime they still hovered between the bottem two spots in tests. Time to pull the plug until they manage to get some depth and develop their structures..which i believe won't happen for a long time, if ever. As for Bangladesh. Give them another five years before making any decisions. They haven't been around long enough yet and need time to prove themselves. No point in the ICC backtracking on that one.

If i was the ICC i would really give the game some decent exposure in Japan, China and America/ Canada and try globalise the game even further. They might as well give it a crack

Bangladesh have removed their First Class structure and there is no way they can improve without that. With that yes they can improve as there is passion for the game in the country.

With regards to globalising further, they had a good chance in developing Kenya as a cricket nation and they didnt get many one dayers after the World Cup. Also, nothing was done to solve their domestic crisis regarding cricket. It isnt ICC's business about the domestic crisis in most test countries but they have to help developing nations out of it. Else cricket will NEVER expand.

if i was selector i'd pick that side too except i'd swap mpofu with utseya, if you've got two specialist spinners in bangladesh i think you should play them both even though they have the likes of matsikenyeri as back-up, i also wouldn't mind giving sibanda a go either since he has been scoring a few runs lately but i'm not sure were i'd fit him in

If you were a Zimbabwe selector and that brave, you'd probably be in prison in Harare...
