i mean what were inzimam and woolmer thinkin sendin in younis khan as an opener when they took three specialist openers with them plus with afridi in the side ,thats wat destroys players they did the same thing with asim kamal by sendin him at no3at faisalabad and now they thinkin bout droppin the poor guy from the australia tour
how sad

International 12th Man
they wanted to play younis, and they had no other position to play him.
number 3 is secured by malik
4 is secure by inzi
5 youhana
6 razzaq
7 afridi
8 9 10 11 have to be bowlers plus the keepr, unless they played one less bowler...and against an indian batting line-up,that's not a good idea

however, having said that, i think younis has the goods to be the one day wicket keeper for pakistan. haven't seen kamral akmal that much, but judging on his bating positing , i don' think he's a very good bat. how much better is hius keepin compared to younis?

i meant afridi could av easily opened with younis playin at his normal position, inzi and youhana dont like to play on top anyway

yeah IMO razzaq is more of a seven than six and afridi opening with that batting line-up is not the worst idea because that batting list has talent.
i have always rated pakistan but they have never performed consistently, IMO they should arrange their ODI top 7 like this:

1.Hameed/Butt
2.Afridi
3.Malik
4.Inzy
5.Youhana
6.Younis
7.Razzaq

well the only decison do be made is if you'd rather have afridi opening and younis down or vice versa

if younis can keep in the one dayers then they can both b in lower order and the opening slot could b taken by a specialist

PAKMAN

State 12th Man
he said he could so if the need arises he will coz they only takin one specialist wk so hel obvoisly b the 2nd choice

Unlikely as he's the only keeper in the selected probables!

The keeping equivalent of Marmite - Bovril perhaps?

i think he meant younis khan?

afridi has batted well down the order, provides some fireworks......IMO, the openers should be hameed and butt (from what i've seen of butt so far), or otherwise, tafeeq instead of butt

3 S.Malik
4 Inzy
5 Yousuf
6 Y.Khan(WK)
7 Razzaq/Afridi
8 Afridi/Razzaq

to have either afridi or razzaq at 8 is a very strong batting line-up..Of course they could also b promoted if quick runs are required....it's also a very flexible batting line0up

Nope. He mistook for Kamran Akmal.

Farhat is not that bad but Hameed is better. It would be a good idea to let Salman butt open the innings with Hamed in the next 10-15 onedayers.

The lineup should be like this,

Butt
Hameed
Malik
Inzi
Youhanna
Younus(wk)
Razzak
Afridi

And i won't be surprise to see BUtt thrown out of the team if he fails in 2-3 matches and being replaced with the likes of Umar/Farhat or even Imran nazir.
The selectors/team management should now be consistent with openers, instead in every third match we see a new set of openers in Pak team.

That said, he didn't exactly set the world alight in his first few ODIs and was persisted with for a big game, such as India v Pakistan. Perhaps there's hope for him yet.
