Murali returns fire

I'm not sure that many people are holding Murali up as an exemplar of dignity and humility.

As far as I can tell he's made some fairly innocuous comments on the issue. He was speaking to an Australian media organisation and so naturally used existing Aussie bowlers as examples of others who are apparently exceeding the tolerance levels.

He would perhaps have been better advised to keep it general and not mention individual bowlers, but I think we're talking mountains and molehills here.

i think there are several people who think that murali couldnt hurt a fly. and no i dont think his comments are innocuous, if they were then the aussie bowlers wouldnt have taken such offence. what hes done is almost the same thing to what other people have done to him, hes accused reputed bowlers(except b.lee) all of whom are aussies of being chuckers for no apparent reason. if the aussies have been racist against him, then hes just been racist against them too.

Would you rather have Murali, permanently ostracised and kicked out, when clearly he was born with a deformity and others have done just as much as he has without the deformity ?

If prime minister of australia can call murali a chucker openly in publi why cant murali call other bowlers chuker openly. After all the so called reat bowlers chuck too.

To top it all why did the hit list of ICC did not include any players apart from sub continent (major). This shows racial bias. Though ICC is denying the hit -list only time will tell.

The 'misquoted' response from Murali is rubbish. He listed numbers against 3 Australian bowlers without anything to back him up. If he had said only that all bowlers extend then that would have been fine.

People are saying that these new rules will clear Murali to bowl the doosra. He will always be skating on thin ice with this ball. He registered 14 degrees after remedial action. Remember the original measurements showed 20 degrees. If he reverts back to his old ways then he will be chucking again.

I think that it would be good if all bowlers got checked to see the extent of what's going on. That way we would know for sure that 15 degrees is the magic number.

I've become confused about these measurements. Everything I ever read from any kind of "official" source (ICC, newspapers, cricinfo) said that the doosra was initially tested at 14 degrees and the straightening was reduced to 10 degrees after the remedial work.

Can anybody clarify this 20 degrees figure? I've watched the figure get bigger and bigger as it gets mentioned at internet forums, but I missed the news reports with these stats if they're true.

Firstly, the ICC have never had a hit list - it is an attempt to stir things by a pathetic journalist.

Don't you think it's racial bias for Murali to pinpoint 3 Aussies bowlers over every other bowler in the entire world? That's just stupid... what's more bias is the fact that Murali is allowed to play because of teh whole poor background, sri lankan civil war thing. They are too scared to disallow him, as tehre would be a massive controversy of racialism. I think it's more a case of racialism in the opposite way here...

ok so it's not racial in the 'traditional' sense, but certainly he IS playing the small town local underprivaleged hero v big bad AUS.............he has said as much himself recently........

Ranatunga did the same thing with Oz in 1995/6.

Although that spare tyre would disprove the "underpriveliged" part.
